This role is onsite and a 5 month contract with extension. Looking for someone with 4-6 years experience.

The LAN Administrator manages and supports client s global multi-platform network.

The LAN Administrator is responsible for the implementation, problem determination, problem/incident recording, problem resolution and problem escalation of network activities, including but not limited to Jamf, Cisco, Office 365, Ivanti Security Controls, Windows Server, various firewall/routers, client/server systems, PC and Macintosh desktops,

Python, desktop application software, peripheral devices, vendor management and stakeholder interaction.

This will be a customer-facing position which will provide the opportunity to work with the global IAVI offices.

The LAN Administrator manages and supports client s global multi-platform network. the LAN Administrator is responsible for the implementation, problem determination, problem/incident recording, problem resolution and problem escalation of network activities.

This includes but not limited to Jamf, Cisco, Office 365, Ivanti Security Controls, Windows Server, various firewall/routers, client/server systems, PC and Macintosh desktops, Python, desktop application software, peripheral devices, as well as vendor management and stakeholder interaction.

The LAN Administrator is technically strong, has project management experience and enjoys working in a customer-facing function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-person/remote assistance managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting to users in IAVI s global network encompassing United States, Netherlands, Kenya, South Africa, and India offices.
  • Manage and maintain Macintosh laptops and desktops.
  • Install Python/Anaconda/Miniconda as needed.
  • Assist with deploying and managing Jamf.
  • Maintain servers running at or near 100% uptime with respective anti-virus and other tools for protection and monitor the network for virus and spam, providing quick resolution to problems.
  • Ensure that backup and disaster recovery systems work efficiently.
  • Patching of servers via Ivanti Security Controls (formally Shavlik).
  • Install firmware patches and updates to network devices.
  • Manage routers, switches, firewalls, TCP/IP networks, VPN, servers, VMware platform, and network monitoring.
  • Assist in evaluating and testing hardware and software and planning for future needs.
  • Manage and maintain Active Directory infrastructure including Domain Controller/DNS Server/DHCP Servers/WINS Servers.
  • Provide assistance with Group Policy and perform general administration including backups of Group Policy Objects. Utilize Group Policy to deploy software, configuration, drive mappings, etc.
  • Maintain up-to-date expertise in major server operating systems, and a wide variety of commonly used hardware and software, particularly for networking, backup, and security.
  • Assist in evaluating and testing hardware and software and planning for future needs.
  • Research and test new technologies and systems before deploying in the organization.
  • Access on-line technical support, open support tickets with vendors, and update as needed.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.

Education and Work Experience:

  • BS in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in building and maintaining a global network infrastructure is required.
  • Minimum 3 years experience working with Macintosh computers is required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in a customer-service/facing role in a multicultural environment is required.
  • Experience with and knowledge of principles and practices of network administration is required.
  • Experience analyzing and troubleshooting complex computer system and network issues, identifying the reasons for network and network device problems, failures and malfunctions and developing optimal solutions is required.
  • Experience in troubleshooting Mac computers is required.
  • Experience with Python, Anaconda, Miniconda is required.
  • Knowledge in Cisco Networking is preferred.
  • Experience with Jamf is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience analyzing phishing emails is required.
  • Knowledge of network architectures and theory and principles of local and wide area enterprise network design and integration, including topologies and protocols is required.
  • Knowledge of routers, firewall, TCP/IP networks, server systems and management, and Windows environment is required.
  • Experience monitoring network trends and anomalies and adjust as necessary is required.
  • Ability to coordinate and complete projects efficiently and in accordance with the organization standards is required.
  • Experience with the installation, configuration and troubleshooting processes for software, hardware, networking, and accessory equipment is required.
  • Knowledge of computer network security as well as knowledge on how to implement tools to protect the network is required.
  • Knowledge of Windows 2016/2019 Servers is required.
  • Knowledge of VMware, Veeam, Ivanti Security Controls (Shavlik) configuration and maintenance skills is preferred.
  • Linux experience is a plus.
  • Analytical skills to assess problems or unusual situations and develop solutions are required.
  • Experience effectively dealing and communicating with end users is required.
  • Team player, flexible and easily adaptive to changing environments is desirable.
