Summary:

The main function of a Sourcing Manager is to develop detailed specifications, solicit bids, negotiate pricing, and manage supplier relationships to support Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and broader procurement needs. This role requires both strong commercial acumen and technical understanding of data center infrastructure to ensure cost-effective, reliable sourcing solutions

Job Responsibilities:

Gather detailed information from sales, customers, and stakeholders to develop comprehensive specifications.

Solicit bids and quotes, determine best pricing/value, and lead competitive sourcing processes.

Procure finished goods and services for resale, leveraging established vendors and identifying new suppliers as alternative sources when required.

Make substitution recommendations where cost savings, improved quality, or better delivery outcomes can be realized.

Meet with vendor representatives to resolve shipping, backorder, and overstock issues.

Develop and qualify new vendors, ensuring best price and delivery through competition and strong negotiating skills.

Maintain up-to-date vendor catalogs, contracts, and pricing schedules.

Stay current on new products, supplier innovations, and market trends, and communicate relevant insights across the organization.

Manage large-scale RFPs (ranging from $1M to $25M in annual spend) within Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and other critical facility service categories.

Build and sustain supplier relationships in mission-critical environments, balancing cost efficiency with high reliability standards.

Partner with engineering, operations, and finance teams to align sourcing strategies with business growth and infrastructure requirements.

Must have skills:

Strong negotiating, communication, and customer-service skills.

Ability to analyze and resolve a variety of issues simultaneously.

Proven ability to structure supplier partnerships, drive accountability, and enable continuous improvement.

Strong stakeholder management, with ability to gain cooperation across teams.

Ability to translate technical infrastructure needs into sourcing strategies.

Experience managing sourcing processes in high-reliability, mission-critical environments.

Proficiency in MS Windows, procurement systems, and 10-key by touch.

Strong analytical skills for pricing comparisons.

High degree of integrity, ownership, and results orientation.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Deep industry knowledge of data center operations and infrastructure, particularly in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Fire Life Safety, Generators, FM Services, and Water Treatment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing competitive sourcing events and supplier negotiations with multimillion-dollar spend.
  • Track record of driving efficiency, compliance, and value through procurement processes in complex, fast-paced environments
