Posting Description
LEAD DATA ANALYST AND MANAGER OF PUBLIC SECTOR RESEARCH, MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) , to be responsible for quantitative research and analysis and the development of data tools and databases on subjects within the institution innovation fellow's (IFF) research agenda, including economic policy, climate policy, energy policy, sustainability and resilience, and industrial/manufacturing policy. Will drive database building for the upcoming Global Clean Investment Monitor (GCIM) and collaborate on updating and producing original research on the Clean Investment Monitor (CIM); lead projects related to integrating AI and advanced data tools into policymaking; suggest ways to deploy tools and advanced data science capabilities in team projects, including Python, Streamlit, Java, Tableau, Power BI, LangChain, Chroma, and SQL; pitch, design, and build data architecture, pipelines, and products that solve climate policy and other policy data problems; support the publication of research papers; present findings, approaches, and processes to the team; participate in the IIF's public-facing research projects by preparing talking points and other materials; engage in relationships with partner researchers within MIT and elsewhere to coordinate ongoing research projects and identify potential areas of collaboration; and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred); five years' data science experience in government, public policy, research, or related field; ability to implement a long-term and technical plan of action with minimal supervision; experience working on climate change, sustainability, energy policy, and/or economic issues; strong entrepreneurial, organizational, and written and verbal communication and presentation skills; experience advising and working with senior officers; ability to work collaboratively; excellent data science and coding skills; and experience with social science research methods, including survey design and analysis.
