Business Systems Analyst

Location: Hybrid – mostly remote (must be in U.S.) may need to be onsite in Lansing on occasion.

Contract: 6-12 months with likely multiyear extension


Clover Consulting has a large client in Lansing, MI in need of a Business Systems Analyst.  This is a MOSTLY REMOTE position with only occasional onsite work required in Lansing, MI.  Term of this contact is 6-12 months with likely extension for multiple years.


This candidate will be part of a 43-person team made up of Project Managers, Teradata and Web Developers, Data Modelers, DBAs, Business Analysts and Report Analysts.  Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with programmers, analysts, immediate supervisor, management, system users, operations, other State agencies and the private sector.


Job Duties:


  • Serve as the liaison and Subject Matter Expert between the business users, Medicaid program area, and technical teams
  • Ensure understanding of priorities, business needs, schedule, status, and deliverables amongst members of the business, program and technical teams
  • Manage day-to-day communication and ensure rapid resolution of requests and questions from business users and technical teams
  • Facilitate sessions with business, program and technical teams to understand business needs, identify and design solutions, and develop use cases
  • Create formal documentation for Business, Functional and Technical requirements, Functional and Technical Design, and Use Cases
  • Lead development of formal Test Plans and test data in collaboration with the business, program and technical teams
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing sessions with Business Users
  • Validate and test web application and reporting functions
  • Facilitate and document business User Acceptance Testing
  • Prepare necessary forms and documentation for implementation
  • Analyze and recommend process improvements
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills




  • 3+ Years of Business Analyst Experience in a Data Warehouse or Web Application environment
  • 3+ Years’ Experience facilitating business requirements gathering, technical documentation, test plan creation
  • 3+ Years’ Experience with all phases of SDLC



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical study.
  • 1+ Years of Business Analyst Experience with State Government/Medicaid business areas
  • 1+ Years Training Experience
  • 1+ Years SQL Assistant Experience
  • Experience working with business partners to proactively identify value add solutions
  • Experience with Report Development
  • Experience with Analytical Tools
