Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) with 10+ years of DB2 experience to support high-availability enterprise systems in a complex z/OS environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in database design, performance tuning, high transaction environments, and 24x7 production support, along with strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain DB2 database applications for high availability and maximum performance.
Provide production and test database support in a complex enterprise environment.
Perform SQL code reviews, database performance monitoring, and application-level tuning.
Implement and enforce DB2 security standards.
Collaborate with DB2 systems programming staff to manage DSNZPARM settings.
Create, manage, and support DB2 Stored Procedures, Triggers, and Referential Integrity.
Manage service requests, create change requests, and provide 24x7 on-call support.
Configure and support DB2 Connect access for users and distributed systems.
Partner with cross-functional teams on technical solutions and project schedules.
Develop and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Support data modeling (logical and physical) and participate in data warehouse design.
Required Skills & Experience
10+ years of experience with DB2 on z/OS in a production, high-transaction environment.
Expertise in:
DB2 12 for z/OS (or higher)
High availability (24x7) techniques and large data stores
DB2 utilities setup and execution (V10 or higher)
DB2 performance and tuning at the database and SQL level
Complex SQL coding and tuning
Data modeling (logical and physical design)
Data warehouse design and OLAP query solutions
Experience with DB2 attachments/interfaces: DRDA, DB2 Connect.
Hands-on expertise with DB2 Tools:
IBM Data Studio, DB2 Admin Tool, DB2 Automation Tool, DB2 Explain, DB2 Query Monitor
IBM OPTIM Workload Query Tuner, IBM File Manager, Tivoli OMEGAMON, QMF
Strong Mainframe (z/OS) skills: TSO/ISPF, JCL, DFSORT/ICETOOL, REXX, and z/OS utilities.
Desired Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication.
DB2 V9/V10 Certification preferred.
Experience with:
IMS Databases and IMS Utilities (IBM, BMC, NEON, etc.)
ETL tools (InfoSphere, Informatica, etc.).
