Job Title: IT Project Manager
Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid 2-3 days onsite per week)
Job Type: Long-Term Contract

Note: Active PMP certification from PMI is Required.
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead and deliver complex technology projects involving multiple teams, work streams, and vendors. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale IT initiatives within structured project management frameworks and will possess strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
This role requires a PMP certification (PMI) or state-recognized PM certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage IT projects through all phases: Initiation, Planning, Execution, Control, and Closeout.
- Serve as a hands-on project manager, collaborating closely with development teams, business users, and leadership.
- Coordinate project tasks, resources, timelines, and deliverables to ensure on-time, on-budget completion.
- Communicate project goals, milestones, and expectations to technical and business stakeholders.
- Manage vendors, consultants, and contractors; oversee procurement-related activities.
- Track project progress, risks, budgets, and status; prepare regular reports for management.
- Ensure proper documentation of requirements, use cases, and test plans.
- Define and measure project success metrics, maintaining transparency and accountability.
- Support system and application training activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 8 10 years of experience managing large, complex IT projects.
- Active PMP certification from PMI or state-equivalent PM certification (mandatory).
- Strong understanding of software development life cycles and methodologies (Agile and Waterfall).
- Proven experience managing IT infrastructure delivery projects (e.g., networking, site provisioning, vendor coordination).
- Expertise with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, Project Server).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Agile Scrum Master certification.
- Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall project environments.
- Ability to balance business and technical priorities, providing credible leadership to technology teams.
