Position: ServiceNow Application Developer

Duration: 10 - Months

Location: - Hybrid Arlington, VA

Position Overview:

  • Arlington County Government is seeking a skilled and motivated ServiceNow Developer to support the continued optimization and expansion of our ServiceNow platform. Working closely with our lead developer and system administrator, you will help drive innovation by enhancing user experience, automating workflows, integrating third-party systems, and implementing AI-powered search capabilities. This project-based position has an initial 10-month commitment, with the potential for extension based on funding and performance.

Background:

  • ServiceNow was implemented within Arlington County five years ago and currently supports core modules such as Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Asset Management, Request Fulfillment, and Knowledge Management. Following a recent health check and optimization assessment with ServiceNow, we are now focused on enhancing platform functionality, with special attention to modernizing the Service Catalog and AI Search integration

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and configure solutions using JavaScript, Jelly, Web Services, MySQL, XML, HTML, and CSS.
  • Customize out-of-the-box applications and build/maintain custom workflows using Flow Designer and Workflow Editor.
  • Integrate Service Now with third-party applications using REST/SOAP APIs.
  • Provide application support, perform maintenance, and implement updates during ServiceNow software releases.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Document solution designs, workflows, and user guides in collaboration with technical writers.
  • Prepare performance reports and identify system optimization opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on development experience on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Proven experience working in development, test, and production ServiceNow environments.
  • Proficiency with modules such as Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Service Catalog, and Asset Management.
  • Experience with CMDB, LDAP integration, and custom scripting.
  • Strong experience gathering and managing user stories and ServiceNow backlogs.
  • Proficiency with custom web services, notifications, assessments, and custom app development.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Service Now Certified System Administrator and/or Certified Application Developer.
  • Knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, AWS Redshift.
  • ITIL, ITSM, or equivalent process certification.

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Beacon Systems Inc depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, BeaconGov provides reasonable range of compensation for this role.
