Fabric Network Engineer (Extreme)

Duration: 6 month initial contract (program is slated for 12-18 months).

January 1 start date - July 31 intial end.

Full time 40 hours per week

Remote - CST working hours

Some expected travel

Target Pay Rate: $100-125/hr.

Top three skills needed:

  • Strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 knowledge
  • Extreme fabric knowledge [ (if no extreme, EVPN-VXLAN campus fabric (Cisco / Aruba / Juniper) Cisco SDA, Aruba CX Fabric, or other large-scale campus fabric deployments ]
  • Scripting (a plus)
  • WAN routing (BGP)
  • Strong routing and LAN troubleshooting

Overview

Seeking a Network Engineer experienced in modern campfabric-based network architectures to support ongoing network modernization, routing, and troubleshooting initiatives across the enterprise. The position will work alongside internal network teams and existing partners to support design reviews, operational handover, troubleshooting, and cutover activities across multi-site environments.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support campus fabric networking across multi-site environments
  • Perform L2/L3 routing and switching configuration, testing, and cutovers
  • Troubleshoot and optimize LAN/WAN network performance
  • Assist in segmentation, VRF configuration, MLAG/VXLAN overlays, and resiliency improvements
  • Collaborate with internal network, application, and clinical systems teams
  • Document runbooks, configurations, and operational playbooks for handoff

Required Skills

  • Strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 knowledge
  • Advanced routing and LAN troubleshooting in enterprise environments
  • WAN routing (BGP)
  • Hands-on support during network cutovers and change windows
  • Experience operating within large-scale, mission-critical networks (healthcare highly preferred)

Preferred Experience (Either of the following is acceptable)

Option A Direct background

  • Extreme Networks / Fabric Connect (SPBM)

Option B Transferable equivalent background

  • EVPN-VXLAN campus fabric (Cisco / Aruba / Juniper)
  • Cisco SDA, Aruba CX Fabric, or other large-scale campus fabric deployments
  • VRF-based segmentation and MLAG/VXLAN overlays across multiple sites

Nice-to-Have

  • Scripting / automation (Python, Ansible)
  • XIQ, Cisco DNA Center, Aruba Central, or similar controller/orchestration platforms
  • Healthcare IT experience
