GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The position offers the opportunity to be a Mechanical Engineer focused on the development of vehicles used by customers around the world. The position requires a passion for vehicles and the desire to work with a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment to bring new and exciting products to market.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Lead the design process for vehicle related components and systems from concept to production.
Transform market requirements into system, subsystem and component specifications.
Perform project related assignments and work directly with all functions of the organization to ensure project success with respect to Quality, Delivery and Cost
Represent Engineering on cross functional new product development teams.
Ensure technical rigor for all projects assigned (Specifications, DFMEA, DVP, APQP, and Technical Design Reviews).
Creates and owns the Engineering Release Plan for all components, assemblies, installations, and Bills of Materials within assigned programs.
Remove roadblocks and accelerate implementation of projects.
Utilize PTC Creo to design & develop mechanical components, subsystems and systems
Work closely with suppliers to develop components and subsystems to client specifications.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure Design For Manufacture (DFM) and to incorporate designs into manufacturing processes.
Leads competitive benchmarking activities & value engineering ideation activities
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Mentor less experienced engineers.
Understand and influence regulatory standards that affect client products.
Develop project schedules and drive cross functional teams to meet milestones for assigned projects.
Effectively self-manage large projects
First point of contact within engineering regarding customer issues.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required
Demonstrated expertise in product & assembly design for different manufacturing processes
Experience working as an engineer in a vehicle related business is preferred.

Solid Project Management/leadership skills
Process knowledge for plastics: injection molding, extrusion, compression molding, blow molding, thermoforming, and other common processes used for the manufacturing of products made from polymeric materials.
Process knowledge for metals: extrusion, stamping, die cast, welding, and other common manufacturing processes.
Experienced in applying and understanding the results of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Expert in technical, analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, 9-step, etc).
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Employs best solution to problem rather than most evident (considers business impact to other departments as well as technical requirements)
Proficient at identifying project/subsystem risks and developing/executing subsequent mitigation plans
High capability in in Microsoft products including Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
Thorough understanding of the Engineering financial impact and a basic understanding of the needs and impact of other functions on the business
