Summary

Position: Systems Analyst/Application Analyst

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Minnesota (100% Remote)

Job Description

The Systems Analyst is responsible for conducting the technical assessment of the 52 School Finance applications, including evaluating system architecture, integrations, data flows, technology stacks, and operational dependencies. This role works closely with the Technical Lead and Business Analyst to build a complete picture of the current-state environment and identify modernization opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Perform application-level assessments including technology stack, integrations, data flow, and dependencies.
Evaluate security posture, supportability, performance, and end-of-life risks.
Analyze application logs, documentation, architecture diagrams, and system interfaces.
Assist in creating the system inventory and architecture visual maps.
Identify opportunities for consolidation, re-platforming, or replacement.
Gather information about hosting environments, middleware, frameworks, and databases.
Support development of the risk and impact matrix for all 52 applications.
Validate technical findings with MNIT teams and incorporate feedback.
Provide input into the modernization roadmap, technical sequencing, and resource impacts.

Skills & Experience

5+ years working as a Systems Analyst, Application Analyst, or similar technical role.
Strong understanding of legacy systems, integration methods, data modeling, and IT operations.
Experience conducting technical assessments across multi-application environments.
Familiarity with modern development frameworks, cloud environments, and migration patterns.
Ability to translate technical findings into clear documentation.
