Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer with strong Linux infrastructure experience to support operations and maintenance (O&M) activities at a secure customer site near Dulles, VA. This role involves managing hardware and software components to ensure system reliability, scalability, and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot Linux-based systems, including physical servers, networking, storage, and cloud environments.
- Support Echelon 1 (E1) activities to ensure efficient system operations.
- Deploy O&M patches and baseline updates.
- Participate in enterprise integration efforts and technical interchange meetings.
- Document system defects and collaborate with operators and partners.
- Provide occasional off-hours support as part of a call-in rotation.
- Travel to other customer sites or factory locations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Physics) and 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in:
- Linux system administration (RHEL/Oracle Linux preferred)
- VMware (vCenter, ESXi)
- LDAP (user/group management)
- Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly (required on Day 1).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bash scripting
- Hardware maintenance and FRU replacement
- Out-of-band management (iDRAC, terminal servers)
- Experience with Dell and Cisco hardware
- NTP, DNS, NFS administration
- Smart PDU management
- LAN and firewall configuration (Cisco preferred)
- Familiarity with Nagios, Windows OS, SAN/NAS administration
