This position reports to

Your role and responsibilities
\tDevelop new products, medium-voltage fused cutouts and switches, including product concept, numerical analysis and simulations, design documentation, as well as testing and characterization of the design in the lab with the help of your technical support staff.\n \tCreate definitions of parts, sub-assemblies and top-level end items in the form of 2D drawings, 3D models, tolerance stack ups and various electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling and inspection.\n \tEnsure compliance to established design guidelines for safety, manufacturing efficiency, quality and reliability.\n \tFacilitate design reviews for a product parts and assemblies during the development and industrialization process.\n \tWork as a part of the cross functional teams including manufacturing, sourcing, global engineering and systems engineering in developing and on-going support of state-of-the-art medium voltage control and protection devices.\n \tProtect inventions following ABB intellectual property guidelines.\n

Qualifications for the role
- Master's Degree in Science (MSc) in Electrical Engineering with minimum 3 years of experience or Bachelor's Degree in Science (BSc) in Electrical Engineering with minimum 5 years of experience in medium or high voltage product development.
- Experience with fused cutouts, fuses and switching devices preferred.
- Sound knowledge of electric arc phenomenon and electric arc extinguishing techniques in medium voltage or high voltage products.
- Sound knowledge of SolidWorks (or similar CAD tool) - 3D modeling, 2D drawings.
- Knowledge of FEM dielectric, electromagnetic, structural, thermal and CFD numerical simulations preferred.
- Fluency in English language.
- Ability to travel is required, estimate 10 to 20 percent travel (domestic as well as international).
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
