Overview

We are seeking an experienced Akamai Edge Expert to support our global web delivery, security, and performance initiatives. The ideal consultant will have hands-on expertise with Akamai s Edge platform, CDN optimization, performance tuning, and security configurations. You will collaborate with architecture, DevOps, security, and application teams to design, optimize, and deploy Akamai-powered solutions across a large-scale environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and optimize Akamai Edge solutions, including delivery, performance, and security modules.
• Manage and enhance Akamai Property Manager configurations, Edge hostname setups, and rule trees.
• Configure and maintain Akamai CDN, WAF, Kona Site Defender, Bot Manager, and other security modules.
• Implement caching strategies, routing rules, and traffic steering for high-availability platforms.
• Perform performance tuning, log analysis, and troubleshooting for CDN-related issues.
• Work closely with developers and DevOps to integrate Akamai into CI/CD pipelines.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation, runbooks, and configuration standards.
• Support production releases, incident response, and provide SME-level guidance to internal teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile environments to meet business and technical goals.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Akamai Edge solutions in large enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in:
• Akamai Property Manager
• Kona Site Defender (KSD)
• Akamai WAF & Bot Manager
• Akamai Ion, GTM, GHost, EdgeWorkers
• Edge Redirector, CPS (Certificate Provisioning System)
• Strong knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, caching, CDN architecture, and web performance optimization.
• Experience debugging using Akamai debug headers, mPulse, DataStream, Log Delivery.
• Practical understanding of DNS, load balancing, routing.
• Experience integrating Akamai with DevOps pipelines (GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.).
• Familiarity with scripting (Python, Shell, JavaScript) or EdgeWorkers/edge compute is a plus.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex CDN, caching, and security issues end-to-end.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with API Gateway, microservices, cloud (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform).
• Familiarity with Web Application Security, OWASP, DDoS mitigation.
• Experience with performance monitoring tools (New Relic, Dynatrace, AppDynamics).
• Knowledge of Zero Trust models and Akamai Enterprise Security products.
