Well if this is you, then come join a strong and energetic team of engineers who are building our next generation test automation services platform and applications for NCR’s Connected Payments line of business. As a Software Engineer in Payments, you will be part of an Agile team and involved in all aspects of our projects’ lifecycle from inception through release working closely with the team’s product owner, architect and engineers. Your mandate on the team will be to (a) design & implement high quality & performance production features to spec (b) maximize the quality, measurability and supportability of the production features you develop, writing unit tests, component and E2E BDD tests, (c) maximize the testability of the software you develop through well designed and thought out interfaces & logging, (d) support the product features when necessary at any stage in the release cycle, (e) work closely with your peers minimize the team’s overall internal defect leakage by shifting the balance of how we manage quality from end-of-cycle defect detection & containment (bug-finding & fix cycles) to up-front defect prevention (automation backed coverage of all our application features).

You will be working closely with the SW Architect, QA, DevOps, POs and other stakeholders leveraging our always evolving engineering devops environment. You will be using Visual Studio 2015+, our in-house Atlassian Suite, our VMware vRA and vCenter virtual labs, Azure including quality tools in our pipeline such as SonarCube.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Be part of an Agile team, participate in all Agile ceremonies & activities and be accountable for the sprint deliverable
  • Implement BDD feature file stories & acceptance criteria for your features
  • Implement Sprint feature stories and unit tests ensuring static code analysis and minimum feature test coverage is achieved
  • Design software carefully considering functional and non-functional requirements
  • Use core design patterns, coding best practices and enterprise pattern best practices
  • Properly follow SCM policies and contribute regularly to peer code reviews
  • Be an advocate of quality-up-front and support the team in beginning with the Definition of Ready and achieving our Definition of Done
  • Review designs and code with developers and architects in consideration of performance, scalability, testability and supportability
  • Build mocks, emulators, fakes, stubs and any other test libraries driving towards 100% unit, component & integration test coverage


Required Qualifications

  • Computer Science degree program or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in web, client & cloud software engineering
  • Development experience on MS Windows
  • Programming experience with major OO language such as C#
  • Knowledge of web development: HTML, CSS
  • Knowledge or experience with Web Services: Rest or SOAP
  • Strong computer science fundamentals: OOP, design patters, data structures & algorithms
  • Experience with designing systems in consideration of NFRs: performance, responsiveness, concurrency, availability, supportability…

Preferred Qualifications

  • SQL query and DB experience on MS SQL Server
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
  • Understanding of retail grocery and/or Hospitality payments transactions types & flows including authorizations, purchases, reversals, tips, adjustments and relayed business processes.
  • Retail & Hospitality POS industry knowledge preferred
