Job Description

Our client, a firm that provides innovative technology and service solutions for the energy and environmental markets, is looking to hire a full-time permanent Sr. Product Manager! This is fully remote to start, with the expectation to work in NYC within the next few months.

The firm employs a product management structure for oversight and management of their core products.

You MUST be both technical and strategic in nature. Ideally, you have prior experience as a Software Developer or Tech Lead - bringing some sort of development and/or architecture skills to the table.

You are someone who has maybe led several products based on the same or a specific software platform. It is imperative that you are extremely good at abstract thinking and ideally have experience building a product on top of an existing technology platform.

Priority will be given to candidates with any Sustainability or ESG experience or education. This includes emissions, carbon accounting, renewable energy, recycling, or any other areas that deal with environmental sustainability. This is the area in which the firm expects to grow, so coming pre-packaged with this knowledge would be beneficial.


  • Responsible for managing entire product experience for one or more APX products or underlying frameworks.
  • Responsible for defining the product vision, roadmap, features, and services. Also responsible for maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog. 
  • Owner of ensuring that the product set is either profitable now or based on written forecasts will exhibit an ROI higher than our cost of capital.
  • To the extent these features and services require technology development, provide the functional specs / user stories (utilizing rapid prototyping, data visualization, and other tools) to the technology group and manage the project.
  • To the extent the product/service uses operations, client service, legal, and marketing work with the owners of those groups to ensure the appropriate provision of service complete with SLAs and review of cost allocations.
  • Responsible for evangelizing and education on the product value proposition, vision, roadmap, and capabilities to internal and external stakeholders. As part of this, create and maintain the necessary materials (PowerPoint decks, education videos, and other collateral). Hold periodic reviews with internal stakeholders and external clients as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Client Services for market analysis and value proposition articulation. Assess market competition by comparing the products/services with relevant competitors’ products/services.
  • Drive new product enhancements or relevant new products by providing the business case to the Executive Committee (EC) via Project Implementation Review (PIRs).
  • Escalate and lead any product issues raised internally or from clients.
  • Responsible for criticality assessments and capacity planning for the services, and definition of RTO and RPO objectives for disaster recovery


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in IT, Engineering, or related disciplines, with focus on functional architecture, data architecture, or enterprise software services.
  • The following a preferred but not required:
    • Education or experience in Environmental Sciences or Business.  Knowledge of the wholesale power markets or the environmental markets (RECs/carbon)

  • Demonstrated deep ability in analytical thinking, and synthesizing general concepts from tactical examples
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management
  • Be a self-starter and work well independently as well as in a collaborative team environment
  • Comfortable interacting with executive team members and cross-department
  • Ability to quickly absorb technical concepts
