We're seeking candidates with 8+ years of Object-Oriented programming or test automation experience working in an Agile environment using Ruby/Cucumber. Insurance or Financial industry experience is a plus. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field highly preferred.
This role is for a software developer/tester Lead or Key, leading a team of automation test developers in creating automated test using Ruby/Cucumber. At least 5 years of IT Testing and/or test automation experience primarily using Ruby. This candidate must have development experience in Ruby.
This role will require:
Demonstrated knowledge of testing processes, standards and best practices
Test automation development experience
Developing automation tests from acceptance test criteria requirements
Understanding of one or more functional Object-Oriented programming languages including Ruby
Writing complex queries and scripts using SQL
Knowledge of OOP design principles
Knowledge of Acceptance Test Driven Development/Test Driven Development
Experience creating Ruby test automation in an Agile/Lean development environment
Experience creating test automation frameworks from scratch.
Identify and manage defects, secure fixes and re-run tests
Cucumber/Gherkin or equivalent behavior driven development experience
Collaboration /negotiation in a team environment
Excellent communication and people interaction skills
Experience organizing and managing test automation code assets
Proven ability to lead and manage test automation developers in both testing and Ruby best practices
Experience creating and implementing test plans for all phases of development, including Master Test strategies, test data management strategies, risk & dependency mitigation strategies and Release and Regression Test Planning
Ability to track and report appropriate testing metrics to stakeholders
Collaborate and coordinate with business partners throughout testing phases
Coach and Uplift testing capability and best practices on the line
Ability to create strategy around automated testing vs manual testing
Understand and follow Agile/SCRUM practices (daily stand-ups, 3 Amigo, estimation, iteration planning, etc.)
Adhere to enterprise processes such as Quality Center for defects
Oversees the Design, Development or Refactoring of Test Automation Components
Reviews Automation code for consistency and technical standards
Ensures Build to Run transition of automation suite is conducted and documented for Run Team.
Promotes Enterprise Test Automation coding standards and tool selection for Code Build.

1. Develops cost-effective information technology solutions by creating new and modifying existing software applications that are more complex with full competency.
2. Analyzes and validates complex system requirements and existing business processes and information systems. Designs, develops and implements new programs and/or modifications of existing applications. Responsible for the more complex designs, prototypes and other methodologies for new and/or existing systems including the development and implementation of test plans and program specifications with various interfaces.
3. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents and implements complex software applications according to standards.
4. Defines and develops specifications and programs complex technical modules, applications, prototypes and computer programs.
5. Assists in leading all aspects of applications programming and development including file design, update, storage and retrieval.
6. Evaluates and provides technical solutions to complex application development problems.
7. May coordinate activities of a project team and assist in monitoring project schedules and costs.
8. May act as a technical programming consultant for small-scale projects that include multiple product lines and various interfaces.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is preferred.
Experience: Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis. Project management experience is preferred.
Knowledge: Must have proven knowledge in computer programming language. Must have a thorough understanding in systems and data processing policies, practices and procedures. Must have a thorough understanding in systems analysis and design techniques. Must have extensive knowledge of the systems development life cycle. Understanding of project management concepts and techniques required.
Skills/Competencies: Must have the ability to analyze complex applications and systems. Must be able to program complex systems requiring minimal interfaces. Must possess problem-solving skills to determine the programming effects on existing systems. Must have strong decision-making skills for problem identification and solution recommendation. Must have written and oral communication skills to prepare and communicate programming plans and procedures as well as to interact with all levels within the company.
