Data Engineer - Power BI Developer

90+% Remote (Central FL) - will need to go to office approx once a month in Orlando area

SMCI is seeing is seeking a passionate data practitioner to help design and develop the enterprise data eco-system while working closely with the product teams and IT leadership. This Data Engineer - Power BI developer will be responsible for initially provisioning data and analytics to the sales and marketing teams through the established self-service model and backend development tools and standards. This Power BI Developer will work closely with the CPO, Marketing, Sales as well as other team members to bring data solutions to life!

Responsibilities:
  • Enable self-service BI reporting for the business teams
  • Gather detailed requirements for each of reporting request (both business requirements and data requirements)
  • Partner with the Manager of Data Engineering and Architecture and offshore engineering teams to facilitate design and development (jumping in and helping with backend development when needed)
  • Execute all front-end development Power BI Datasets to provision to end users ensuring data quality, consistency in formatting, and ease of use for end users to perform their ad-hoc reporting/dashboard creation
  • Lead and facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) as internal IT and with business users
  • Intake all on-going reporting requirements/enhancements/bugs and communicate to director and/or scrum master to prioritize development, testing, and delivery
  • Be the Data Engineering / Power BI expert for the organization, training fellow data and analytics team members as well as business users
  • Serve as the Power BI Admin, ensuring uptime, optimal performance, etc.

    Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of professional BI and EDW experience
  • 5 years, experience leading Data driven and BI projects
  • Experience with data migration projects (especially SQL data migrations)
  • Experience pulling and merging data from multi-ERPs/source systems
  • Comfortable with Python Scripting, JavaScript and any NodeJS highly preferred
  • Requirements gathering experience required
  • Experience making data usable to the end users
  • Experience working in a complex data environment.
  • Agile Delivery Experience, a plus
  • Very strong SQL skills including data warehousing management, data mining, report designer or developer
  • Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills; able to work across business lines at all levels to understand business requirements.
  • Proven data literacy the ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options.
  • Strong ability to translate among the languages used by executive, business, and IT stakeholders.

    Preferred:
  • Informatica, Five Tran, and other ETL/ELT tools, a plus
    Required Skills: .NET; POWERBI; AGILE.
