Data Analyst - ERP  Migration
Location: Chicago NW Suburbs (remote start due to Covid-19, on-site preferred once resolved)
Duration: 12 months with potential for extension
Data Analyst

  • Must have experience migrating from legacy systems to ERP systems (D365 preferred).
  • Candidate must have strong Functional experience with data mapping in the data migration space (i.e., determining if the mappings work with the business).
  • Data analysis/mapping/migration experience with Finance/Operations is a must (Transactional and Operational finance data).
  • Significant Functional experience performing Data Migration within a global / international environment (3-5 Years) --Strong Functional experience is required -
  • Data Analyst works closely with stakeholders to identify and document the needs of the business.
  • The Data Analyst produces a plan for optimally addressing the needs of the business via the technical data environment, where appropriate
  • Provide Training for new Users
  • Test cases preparation for new functionality
  • Execution of Test cases
  • Data Management - mass insert / update / modification of the data
  • Support production billing
  • Support Audit for different types of the projects.

Meeting with stakeholders to identify and document data migration requirements.
Identify the potential information sources required by the business stakeholders in collaboration with Data Stewards and Metadata Specialists.
Proactively identify opportunities or obstacles concerning obtaining the data needed by the business and communicate these to the data quality team.
Communicate data gaps along with potential solutions to address these gaps to the Data Architect, Service Delivery Manager and Data Modeler while keeping other stakeholders fully informed.
Work closely with the Data Architect, Data Development Team, the Service Delivery manager and the Functional Analyst to define the scope of the appropriate intervention and solution.
Participate in data migration solution testing and validate that the data migration solution satisfies the business requirement in collaboration with the Functional and Business teams.
The Data Analyst should ensure that
(1) The extraction of the data from source systems' fields and subsequent movement to the target fields were performed correctly, and
(2) The transformations or other business rules applied to the data were performed correctly. Correctly is defined as being in accordance with the identified business requirements.
This testing would be performed with the Data Development and Functional and Business teams.
Data Analysts involved in the design and development of a data migration solutions should identify, document and communicate the stakeholder requirements to delivery teams.
Whether the Data Analyst has this direct experience or not, they should have the interpersonal communication skills and knowledge of the organization's business to:
Formulate questions for interviewing stakeholders in order to determine their requirements.
Capture stakeholder requirements and help them clarify and refine the descriptions.
Understand the information requirements in terms of the organization in total.
Understand the information requirements in terms of the specific business units being satisfied by the data migration solution.
Translate and decompose those requirements so that each derived component is understood in its business context.
Integrate the decomposed business definitions with the data available from production sources.
. This analysis process, from understanding the business requirements for information to applying that understanding to the data available from production sources, is the primary challenge of the Data Analyst.
Technical Skills

Demonstrate excellent analytical rigor and logical thinking with a continuous process improvement mindset. Ability to synthesize information across multiple platforms, systems, and organizations.
General Computer Literacy - strong working knowledge of MS Office, MS Projects and Visio software packages. Excel and PowerPoint essential.
Data Management Data analysis (such as SQL and/or PL/SQL)
Business Acumen Applies commercial insight to deliver a prompt and appropriate response to business matters to influence a positive outcome.
Technical Report Writing Able to document the procedure adopted and results obtained from a scientific or technical activity or investigation, into a technical report.
Prioritization Proficient in handling and prioritizing multiple responsibilities and tasks simultaneously
