Position Description:

  • The Agile Coach is an experienced Agile management and engineering practitioner who can guide project sponsors, scrum masters, and Agile teams in developing proper Agile techniques.
  • The Agile Coach must possess outstanding coaching, mentoring and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaches Scrum roles, responsibilities, framework, artifacts and structured meeting cadence and purpose.
  • Assists teams in adoption and adaptation of Agile techniques.
  • Facilitates/demonstrates effective and efficient Scrum meetings.
  • Empowers cross-functional self-organizing teamwork.
  • Leverages situational leadership.
  • Observes team verbal and non-verbal communication and collaboration, and provides meaningful feedback directly to the team, leaders and other stakeholders as appropriate
  • Employs transformational thinking through the ability to challenge status quo, command and control, and prescriptive leadership.
  • Recognizes when a particular Agile technique is not the best solution for the teams needs.
  • Coach and mentor a team of Ciber Agile Project Leads.
  • Work with Project Leads to share learning and maximize practice consistency between teams.
  • Work with Project Leads to facilitate continuous delivery, planning, transparency and improvements.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Formal Certification as Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP) strongly preferred.
  • Must have experience working with SAFe and Scaled Agile.
  • Have good understanding of Kanban.
  • Expert knowledge in Agile engineering and Scrum process framework.
  • Multiple team or project experiences in practicing Scrum.
  • Demonstrated Scrum role mentoring experience, including tool-derived metrics and reporting.
  • Ability to relate to technical and business roles at multiple levels within the business and IT organization.
  • Ability to separate exposed problem symptoms from their root causes.
  • Ability to identify and constructively challenge organizational impediments.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear written and exceptional oral communication skills.
  • Employs active listening skills, leveraging open-ended questions to drive team discovery over prescriptive solutions.
  • Ability to extract meaningful issues from the noise and help teams focus on achievable incremental improvement.
  • An understanding of traditional SDLC and prescriptive methodologies and how they differ from Agile.
  • An understanding of other Agile methods/practices and their similarities to and differences from Scrum.
  • Stays current on industry Agile best practices.
  • Preferred experience as a consultant in enterprise organizations transitioning to Agile methodologies.

  • Scrum Principles: Utilizes Scrum and agile principles and practices.
  • Collaborative Workplace: Promotes and enhances a collaborative work environment.
  • Agile Planning and Estimating.
  • Agile Testing.
  • Agile Metrics and team behaviors that affect them.
Agile Leadership Skills (professionalism) -
  • Ethics: Understands and adheres to the Certified Scrum Coach (CSC) Code of Ethics.
  • Diverse Situations: Applies knowledge in diverse situations.
  • Leads by Example: Coaches behavior and actions are a model for the team.
Advisory-
  • Trust: Creates trust and familiarity with the team.
  • Coaching Presence: Creates a healthy coaching presence (open, flexible, confident, congenial, and focused).
  • Organizational Levels: Relates effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Accept and Reflect on feedback: becomes a better coach by listening to feedback (good and bad) and using it as the basis for improvement.
Communications-
  • Active Listening: Uses active listening skills in team interactions
  • Observe Verbal and Non-verbal feedback: Detects and utilizes feedback from verbal and non-verbal cues
  • Powerful Questioning: Uses powerful questioning to discover information
  • Direct Communications: Communicates directly and clearly
  • Adapts to cultural norms: Becomes familiar with the different cultures that they deal with.
  • For instance in some European countries the active listening practice of repeating what the speaker said in summary would make you look daft. Especially in countries where efficiency is of high value.
Facilitation-
  • Create Awareness: Creates awareness of options and trade-offs.
  • Fosters Learning: Creates an environment conducive to discovery and achievement.
  • Manage Progress: Manages progress and accountability.
  • Effective Meetings: Guides a team in achieving efficient and effective Scrum meetings (planning, daily, demo, retrospective).
Organization Development-
  • Problem Differentiation: Able to differentiate Problems exposed by vs. caused by Scrum.
  • Organizational Alignment: Able to recognize and advise when the organizational structure may impact the implementation of Scrum.
Qualification: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
