Overview

The Agile Portfolio Coach will be reporting to the client Enterprise Agile Coach and actively work with the EPO leadership and other business unit contacts (as improvement opportunities are identified) to define and implement our EPO 2.0 agile portfolio and program management improvements.  The expected outcomes from this engagement are to remove PMO process waste to increase capacity of the portfolio and program layer staff as well as produce the necessary artifacts and change activities tailored for client that will facilitate the EPO transformation journey of moving from traditional portfolio and program management practices to a best-in-class Lean-Agile PMO practice.

Agile Portfolio Coach must have:

  • 3-5 years of experience and deep knowledge of working with the organization in creating agile portfolio and program strategies & practices including proven experience in implementing agile dynamic budgeting solutions
  • Extensive experience in creating value streams/product lines that minimize hand-off and external dependencies for smooth running agile release trains
  • Proven process engineering skills and systems-thinking capabilities to effectively document current and future state program and portfolio agile processes
  • Must be able to recommend practical approaches based on current state practices to implement quick wins with an iterative strategy and approach to implementing an agile portfolio and program layer
  • Strong facilitation skills with experience in preparing and running Kaizen events at various levels within an organization including executive management
  • Skilled in coaching techniques with the ability to coach both up and down the organization to facilitate the right level of change management for the implementation of agile portfolio and program layers within an Agile PMO
  • An agile mindset as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ideal Candidate:

  • 5 to 7 years of agile process coaching experience and must “been there and done that” type of experience based on the activities and experience needed for this engagement
  • Process Engineering background with experience in using Lean Six Sigma, Design Thinking, or other PDCA techniques to help drive organizational efficiencies and remove waste
  • Great at providing recommendations based on current state challenges as well as effective in documenting process flows, process specifications, roles and responsibilities, roadmaps, measures of success, and other needed artifacts to support a transformation to a lean-agile organization.
  • Value Stream Mapping, they really want to go LEAN in coming months / quarters
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence and how to integrate recommendations into the tool
  • Certified in a Change Management frameworks like ADKAR or Kotter
