Job Description

The Opportunity:

Client is undergoing an Agile transformation and is looking for an experienced Agile Team Coach to help transform people, processes, and culture. You'll be focused on developing collaboration skills, providing transparency, accountability, and the ability to adapt to change, while implementing Scrum, Kanban, and Scrumban practices, so that they can meet changing customer and technology needs. You'll help them achieve organizational agility through training, coaching, mentoring, and encouraging a culture of experimentation and learning.

The Agile Coach is responsible for educating technology teams on the Agile methodology and overseeing the development of Agile teams to ensure effective and highest quality outcomes for the organization.

This role will ensure that multiple teams are consistently using client specific Agile practices to achieve the benefits of iterative and incremental development.

What you'll do:

Help train and coach Scrum, Kanban, and Scrumban teams to become high performing teams

Enthusiastically develop, lead, and monitor teams while the organization is adopting new ways of working

Promote a learning and improving culture so that processes are continuously refined and the enterprise pivots when necessary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coaching, including but not limited to project managers, product owners and team members on selected tools, ceremonies, and methodologies that have been adjusted to meet the client's needs and long term strategic goals for organizational agility

  • Support the creation and standardization of all policies and procedures surrounding the client's specific approach to agility

  • Train new teams in client's specific agile methodology and practice, and mentor team members for individual roles and responsibilities

  • Organize and facilitate team events specific to their needs including daily standups, backlog refining, sprint planning, reviews/demo, and retrospectives

  • Help teams visualize, create, and manage their Definition of Workflow; implement and respect WIP limits; design and make prioritization, injects, and other processes explicit; balance new project and support work in a non-DevOps environment

  • Maintain and communicate metrics related to team performance

  • Identify dependencies while removing impediments and escalating when necessary

  • Focus on helping teams meet commitments through organizational development and implementation of lean processes and practices

  • Continually drive improvement and contribute to processes and culture to deliver measurable value

  • Encourage teams to collaborate, be accountable, transparent and continually strive to improve

  • Use data to make decisions and inform direction on team performance improvements

  • Facilitate discussions and resolutions regarding misalignment and conflict as needed

  • Provide one on one coaching as needed with individuals on the team

  • Act as Jira resource for the teams that you support

  • Work with product owners in creating user stories; support teams in estimating efforts and preparing implementation for user stories

What you have:

Minimum of 4+ years of experience as an Agile Team Coach applying a variety of methodologies in different industries

A technical background or a solid understanding of software development

Effective at influencing, motivating, and inspiring individuals and teams

Excellent communication skills; you're an active listener, speak with clarity and precision, can translate technical speak for non-technical people and vice versa

Ability to approach problems in new and innovative ways using a combination of practices from many methodologies that will enable improvement

Jira experience

Education and Certifications:

Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)

Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM)

Certified Product Owner (CSPO) or Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO)
