Job Description

CEDAR is a leading provider of an innovative generation of powerful Private-Cloud-Based Managed Services solutions for Strategic Document Outsourcing (SDO), Customer Communications Management (CCM), Electronic Invoice Presentment & Payment (EIPP) and Electronic Bill Presentment & Payment (EBPP), reshaping the way companies do business with their customers and partners.

Position Specific Competencies/Responsibilities:

• Monitoring and Assurance:
o Monitor production processing, outputs and services to ensure that processing occurs and errors are detected and reported.
o Work with Oracle DBAs and Vertical Product Managers to construct complex database SQL queries to monitor and identify production activity in particular payment file balancing.
o Manually process customer input & outbound files by retrieving files from file transfer archives using CEDAR’s Teamforge web service to identify files. Once identified, use UNIX commands to move the files to the appropriate destination directory within the customer workflow for processing
o Monitor client production activity using each client’s job tracking interface and system generated reports and notifications to ensure CEDAR’s meets its SLA and contractual obligations

• Problem Determination & Identification:
o Ability to correlate error logs with CEDAR processes and client impact.
o Utilize UNIX commands to search through those logs to identify error conditions.
o Identify java based kernel logs of processing activity and retrieve them for analysis.
o Interpret system generated error notifications that indicate processing exceptions such as Dataflow errors, Horizon module exceptions, Gateway Data Transformation exceptions, etc. Interpret these notifications to open incident tickets and assign them to appropriate teams 

• Reporting:
o Accurately reports client status by providing timely notifications to the Client Services team.
o Resend payment and debit card files that contain payments to financial institutions making sure all security and encryption protocols are maintained
o Monitor NFS (Network File System) activity via the Sentry web interface to confirm files have been received and transferred. Correlate activity with job confirmation notification. Open incident tickets for discrepancies that are identified
o Develop and maintain First Level Support job sheets and documentation
o Coordinate with Service Delivery Managers on any special data transfer or processing requests Manage as well as participate in daily incident meeting.
o Log meeting details in Teamforge web application to ensure CEDAR is compliant with SSAE-16 operational procedures

• Reliability: Attends appropriate meetings and works scheduled shifts.


  • UNIX & Database (Oracle or SQL) knowledge; either work or school experience
  • Java programming knowledge; either work or school experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Communication must be clear, concise, and consistent throughout the issue/project life cycle
  • High attention to detail and work performed should be error-free
  • Follows company's methodologies for solution delivery and issue resolution
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work well within a team environment
  • Ability to work 3rd shift and weekends
  • Must have reliable transportation

Balance of education and experience sufficient to suggest successful performance in a demanding role.
