Apex Systems is recruiting a Application Support Engineer for our large financial industry client. The Application Support Engineer will join our client's Corporate Technology Production Services organization to help drive Automation efforts. Our client's Corporate Technology Production Services organization is responsible for applying software engineering techniques to production operations to help improve system reliability, developer productivity and reduce technical debt of the services your team supports. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about system reliability to influence and drive the Production Service mission. The Production Service teams own some of the most critical responsibilities in our client's organization. To ensure these responsibilities are met, our team members need to exhibit ownership, accountability, and an eagerness to learn. As a member of the production services team, you will have a lead role in contributing to the success of a suite of applications supporting our client's Human Resources, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Regulatory, Legal and Corporate Treasury functions. If you like learning how applications work and fixing problems using your engineering skills, you are going to love our client's team.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply Development Operations (DevOps) skills to improve application availability and reliability
  • Help drive DevOps adoption through build and release management improvements using continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) techniques
  • Respond to, diagnose, and resolve service disruptions
  • Identify, define, and implement required monitoring and automation solutions
  • Create and maintain support documentation and procedures
  • Ability to deal with time sensitive issues in support of critical service level commitments

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; Advanced degree is beneficial.
  • 3+ years of diverse experience in information technology required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus
  • Desired Skills (qualified candidates may not have all these skills or experience):
    • Demonstrated ability being self-organized with a focus on accountability and ownership
    • Experience scripting with perl, python, bash, shell, powershell
    • Experience interacting with applications and services using REST API's
    • Experience deploying applications in a production environment
    • Familiarity with CI/CD tools
    • Familiarity with GIT or other source control tool
    • Familiarity with production ready code, resiliency, and recoverability

  • Will position be a remote start or onsite? Remote
  • Top 3 skills:
    • Experience triaging application issues and service restoration in a production environment,
    • Experience setting up application monitoring for early issue detection,
