Automation Engineer (Infrastructure Svc Eng Advisor)

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with architects, developers, project managers, and test engineers to assist in the definition and maintenance of set-ups, builds, automation, and best practices to ensure a repeatable and traceable process for software releases.
  • Lead the design and implementation of Infrastructure as code automation of environments and configuration in the cloud.
  • Identify and correct any problems and report any issues to the appropriate team.
  • Document the build system and process.
  • Continually improve infrastructure provisioning automation capabilities.

  • Assist in the creation of blueprints, catalogs and the creation and configuration of vRA and vRO/workflows, vRO configurations/integration with external systems/3rd party tools such as Infoblox, and Service Now.
  • Independently lead the design of automation solutions to include hardware platforms, services, and operating systems
  • Support and review existing automation portals / providing scripts and identify opportunities for improvement and or migration to vRA/vRO or newer scripting techniques or technologies
  • Work with customers development teams to provide end-to-end solutions
  • Design and engineer Infrastructure Automation solutions, enabling increased productivity through automated infrastructure deployments and delighting Anthem's BTO partners through effective self-service delivery.
  • Understand the broad objectives of the project as well as his/her role in achieving those objectives, and modify approach when required. Escalates open issues to ensure execution success and keeps stakeholders informed through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Learn, understand and master new methods and technologies, and act as a resource or mentor for others.
  • Effectively organize and present project objectives and progress. Contribute to technical publications and presentations.
  • Produces and maintains required technical documentation associated with work product.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent degree program.
  • Bachelor's degree required and 7 years of experience or Master's degree and 5 years of experience.
  • 1-3 years' experience in engineering and developing Infrastructure automation solutions, such as VMWare vRealize, Ansible , and AWS.
  • Experience developing and deploying a full-stack DevOps Pipeline - including Planning, Code Management, Test Automation, and Release Orchestration.
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments such as healthcare or insurance.
  • Must possess good documentation skills (Creating Runbooks, Topology etc.)

  • Knowledge of integrating solutions with ServiceNow
  • VMware experience/exposure (VM creation and configuration, VCenter installation/upgrade, VRealize automation)
  • Working knowledge with AWS Services (EC2, S3, CloudWatch, VPCs, Security Groups, Route 53, ALB, ELB)
  • Knowledge and experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, YAML, PowerShell)
  • Self-motivated, directed and with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience delivering hosted systems
  • Experience monitoring and alerting system experience (Nagios, VRA, etc.)
  • Experience deploying multi-tiered environments on AWS/other public cloud
  • Knowledge in Hybrid Cloud and Cloud Automation tools and integration
  • Strong background in essential Data Center infrastructure technologies such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, NTP, Servers, Storage, Networking, etc.
