Build and Release Engineer
Location: Linthicum, MD Duration: Perm
As a Build and Release Engineer, you will work with a team that is responsible for maintaining and improving the code release pipeline and automated processes. The build team manages Continuous Integration (CI), merging/branching, deployment, and other various automated processes to improve the workflow for development and SQA. Our principal goal is to make changes flow as easily as possible from a developer's environment into production while maintaining stability.
1. Design and implement process improvements
2. Identify new and emerging technologies and solutions
3. Define compliance with various audit requirements such as HIPAA.
4. Continuous integration and deployment of internal tools to multiple environments.
5. Management and documentation of deployment processes and automation.
6. Environment management to ensure all needs are covered for testing and development.
7. Communicating issues to the development team.
8. Work with developers and QA to ensure builds are stable upon release.
9 .Diagnosing and troubleshoot build problems, and advertising these to the team.
10. Assist and support developers.
*Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Math, or equivalent combination or experience and education required
Experience and Background:
•3+ years of configuration management and engineering
•Programming experience in C#
•Scripting experience with MSBuild
•Scripting and automation skills in one or more of PowerShell, Python, bash, or similar
•Solid understanding of continuous integration best practices
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
•Working knowledge of CI / ALM toolsets such as VSTS, Github, TeamCity, Chef, Puppet, JIRA
•Experience with automated build systems such as TeamCity, Octopus, or equivalent
•Experience with Perforce, or equivalent
•Experience with bug-tracking software
•Experience with deploying SQL changes.
•Experience with a version control system (e.g., Git)
•Experience performing builds management in both Windows and Linux environments
•Experience with deploying releases to lower and production environments
•Well-developed verbal and listening communication skills
•Strong written communication skills with the ability to write technical documentation, reports and correspondence
•Ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing to Executive management
•Ability to speak and present information effectively before groups of customers or Associates of the organization.
•Ability to read (in English) and comprehend complex documents including government regulations, detailed business requirements, instructions, correspondence, and/or memos is required
•Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
•Ability to access, compile and analyze large volume data sets into concise and precise information
•Ability to define business processes into manageable components
•Ability to understand and analyze metrics
•Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
•Ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions independently; delegate/escalate issues appropriately
•Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited information is available.
