Overview & Responsibilities

General Mills is seeking a Business Analyst to be responsible for the coordination, execution, and management of marketing technology capabilities. The Business Analyst will serve as a resident expert of cross-channel, data-targeted marketing technology efforts, ensuring executional excellence across teams.

This role is part of the Marketing Services and Operations organization, which uses technology to bring General Mills' marketing plans to life. It focuses on using our data for more effective marketing, delivering the right content to the right consumer at the right time.

  • Collaborate with GMI marketing teams to define data-driven personalization executions by utilizing consumer segmentation, content metadata, and user attribution
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert on marketing technology, uncovering key business questions and providing analysis, insights, and solutions to answer business needs
  • Utilize data and market knowledge to translate business needs into user stories
  • Understand, document and communicate timelines and priorities and success criteria
  • Work within established team process from ideation to delivery
  • Partner with data architects to ensure data approach is appropriate and clear
  • Fully document user story requirements and serve as the day to day contact with the development team
  • Maintain a development backlog 3 to 4 sprints ahead of the team
  • Conduct user acceptance testing to ensure accuracy of work
  • Collaborate with product owners to shape the end-to-end product strategy to maximize business value
  • Ensure activities and priorities are in sync with product owners
  • Proactively prepare for business meetings defining agendas, recapping decisions and sending out scorecards
  • Prep and support the team on product demos and training sessions
  • Utilize business retrospective feedback to ensure project value and prioritize future work
  • Source and partner with marketing technology vendors to solve business problems
  • Manage marketing technology tool operations, ensuring seamless cross-channel execution of audience development, campaign creation, and content delivery across teams
  • Develop, document, and execute standard processes for cross-channel campaign delivery
  • Successfully work cross-functionally to support the goals of the organization


  • B.S. or B.A. degree in business, marketing, statistics, CIS, or related field
  • 3-5 years of data and/or analytics experience
  • Experience with SQL, SAS, or other programming language
  • Experience with Hadoop, or relational databases
  • Experience in marketing-focused roles with strong business acumen
  • Proven track record managing multiple projects
  • Exceptional organization, project management, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with marketing technology tools (email service platforms, website analytics, site content management, paid media ad serving, social)

  • Leadership presence and ability to drive meetings
  • Ability to function autonomously while laddering up to established priorities
  • Ability to work through ambiguity
  • Process-driven, continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau
