Job Description

Location: Tacoma, WADuration: 1 year with likely extension

Start date – early January 2019, but can begin earlier if the right resource is immediately available

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

 

 

Primary focus will be on data modeling, so MUST HAVE this experience

 

 

 

  • Likely extend if candidate is very strong, adding value and an asset to the organization
  • Local / on-site strongly preferred (potential to work on-site 3 days/week, remote 2 days/week)
  • 40hrs/week
  • Primary function will be building models / being able to communicate the models
  • Interface with SMEs, some requirements gathering / documentation
  • Targeting 5+yrs’ professional experience outside of school
  • Strong communication / interpersonal skills / collaborative skills
  • Strong Modeling skills (SAS, Python, etc.)
  • R – REQUIRED – MUST HAVE
  • Tableau – REQUIRED – MUST HAVE (Tableau Desktop, R, Python, Alteryx, SAS, SPSS or similar)
  • Academic background in Data Science / Statistics / Mathematics, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with quantitative approaches / statistical / predictive modeling concepts
  • Business Intelligence Analytics supporting the Strategic Asset Management group
  • Data acquisition, report automation and documentation
  • Analytical program support, e.g. performance management
  • Develop statistical models and stories easily understood by non-technical audiences
  • Whole Life Cost models for physical assets
  • Value Framework for analyzing maintenance and replacement options
  • Demonstrable skills delivering actionable insights from disparate data sources
  •  Knowledge of analytics, data mining, cleansing and validation, reporting, modeling, documentation, relational databases and cloud storage
  • Solving complex analytical problems using quantitative approaches using mathematical, statistical and predictive modeling concepts
  • Ownership of work under minimal supervision
  • Experience in the utility sector a bonus

 

 

 

Education:

 

  • Required:  Four-year degree in mathematics, statistics, econometrics, or data science
  • Desired:  Master’s degree in economics, statistics, business administration
