CGI is actively seeking a Cisco Certified Network Engineer to support IP data network installation, configuration, maintenance, and management. The Cisco Certified Network Engineer activates end user data monuments, enables/disables data switch ports, makes configuration changes on routers/switches/wireless controllers/network management tools/ Dense Wavelength Division Multi-plexing (DWDM) optical equipment, and troubleshoots end user network issues, and monitoring and managing network equipment and telecommunication circuits. This is a long term position and work will primarily take place at client facilities in the Washington DC Metropolitan area.
Your future duties and responsibilities
•Provide network and resource management support
• Continuously monitor the availability of the end user and telecommunication networking infrastructure to ensure the operational integrity and overall health of the network
•Monitor environmental factors of data centers and network closets
•Perform installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance of access devices (wireless and wired switches) including port utilization, assignment and overall documentation as needed
•Continue to monitor system health and availability
•Perform monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance telecommunication circuits including DWDM optical circuits.
•Enable/Disable end user data monuments, configure switch ports and vlans, and troubleshoot end user network issues
•Uses network management tools and related test equipment
•Prepare necessary reports
•Ensure that complete, quality documentation is maintained
•Clearly and accurately detail, monitor, and track all work through ServiceNow Work Requests opened and assigned by Service Desk
• Effectively communicate directly with technical and management personnel
•Execute notification escalation procedures as defined; coordinate services and status with Service Desk
•Attend meetings as a telecommunication representative and Subject Matter Expert when requested
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Must have at least 1 year of experience as a Network Engineer
Must be a Cisco Certified Network Engineer and must be able to provide technical expertise in:
• Installation and maintenance of Cisco routers, Cisco switches, Cisco wireless controllers utilizing appropriate tools and procedures, and Cisco IOS.
• Ensure that router, switch, and other network equipment installation, repair and maintenance by Cisco's proper procedures
• Monitor environmental factors of data centers and network closets.
• Using the ServiceNow Work Request System to track and document all changes to switch runs, closet configurations, and monument setups
• Maintain network equipment records in automated system, update network maps and perform Configuration Management
• Use tools to perform monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance telecommunication circuits including DWDM optical circuits.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems, and most of Microsoft Office Suite as well as Microsoft Visio; and Dense Wavelength Division Multi-plexing (DWDM) optical and telecommunication circuits.
