The incumbent provides a full range of technical services including system configuration, design (architecture), implementation and security; analyzes system traffic and provides capacity planning solutions; monitors and responds to complex technical hardware and software problems; interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance; plans and implements small to medium projects; mentors low-level team members on existing and new technologies. The incumbent analyzes and resolves end user device network conductivity issues; manages Network and Telecom related projects; designs and implements new network solutions; improves on the efficiency of current networks as it relates to campus infrastructures.
The incumbent has experience with of Core Routing and Switching design, configuration, and troubleshooting using Cisco: IOS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR, NX-OS and Arista Networks; understands the concepts and principles of Data Center/Core, Distribution and access layer designs within a large campus environment; working knowledge of DNS and DHCP; working knowledge of Security Firewalls and understands edge network infrastructures such as Internet Routers, ISP connectivity and design.
Applicants must have a Master s degree and the equivalent of four years of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization or Bachelor s degree and the equivalent of four years of full-time experience as a Network Systems Specialist or a Bachelor s degree and the equivalent of six years of full-time experience in computer system hardware, operating systems and software, enterprise networking or computer systems security as it relates to technology used at the organization.
The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, MIS or CIS and have analytical skills necessary to resolve complex technical problems related to the Institutes' Information Technology environment. The preferred candidate understands the principles of QOS within a campus LAN; has the ability to manage, configure and design routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP; experience with hybrid campus layer 2/3 designs; and extensive experience is subnetting and virtual local area networks. The preferred candidate understands the concepts network segmentation and pruning; has experience with Cisco s VoIP architecture, such as CUCM, UCCX, CUC, CUBE Expressway Edge, Expressway Core Understanding of Network Admission Control applications such as Cisco ISE or HP ClearPass. The preferred candidate has experience working within a Campus wireless infrastructure, including but not limited to Cisco Unified Wireless Networks and Aruba Networks; has experience with Cisco wireless LAN Controllers; has experience in designing, configuring and deploying Metro Ethernet Connections. The preferred candidate will have a strong understanding of SSL certificates, with the ability to configure, manage and deploy device-based certificates Experience with Cisco ASA, Firepower and Palo Alto firewalls Experience with F5 and NetScaler load balancers.
