Job Description

Location:  Remote

Cloud Engineer role is to assist with the design, implementation, management and support of Cloud infrastructure. Assists with configuration, maintenance, and operations of information systems and storage environments in both Datacenter and Cloud (IaaS). Cloud Engineer to help with overall expansion of cloud-based environments and cloud infrastructure. The Cloud Engineer will work with technology teams to develop and maintain information security policies, security standards, cloud and system engineering guidelines and procedures.

Cloud Engineering

  • Assisting with Cloud Engineering and design developing solutions for cloud environments, applications and web services in both Cloud and local Data Center environments. 
  • Assisting with coordinating and scheduling the installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems software, database management systems, applications, and cloud application development environments.
  • Assisting with providing cloud architecture and design guidelines for business system and system security.  
  • Evaluates, tests and apply upgrades and patches to systems and cloud services on a timely basis as necessary to maintain system overall cloud security.
  • Assisting with Cloud and Data Center hardware installation, maintenance, problem resolution, failure recovery, disaster recovery and backups. Provides timely response for Cloud and Data Center infrastructure requests and outages.

System Support

  • Provides Cloud and System Engineering design support for Network Engineering projects, Help Desk tickets and support requests. This includes installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrading system, and cloud services. Provide overall support and direction for Cloud environment improvements.
  • Receive, assign, prioritize, document and actively resolve end user help requests.

Security Engineering

  • Provide solutions and input for defining compliance and monitoring metrics for system security as well as security scanning of both applications and systems for vulnerabilities. 
  • Design, document and maintain system security policies and procedures as well as monitor compliance in conjunction with security service providers and security vendors. 
  • Minimize and mitigate risks introduced by existing and new information technologies and services through diligent Cloud and System Engineering best practices.

Project Management

  • Assisting with completing complex technical design projects, project management assignments and new system implementations.
  • Assisting with the coordination and management of projects between technical and non-technical staff and organizational departments.  
  • Analyze business technical service needs and propose solutions.  
  • Plan and assist with the technical implementation of necessary technical solutions.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience and understanding of Cloud computing with related AWS Cloud and Systems Engineering experience and knowledge. 
  • Hands-on experience utilizing CloudFormation to create and manage resources in AWS is a must.
  • Experience implementing Cloud Solutions using various AWS Services including EC2, VPC, S3, Glacier, Lambda, Cloud Formation, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS, DynamoDB, Athena and overall AWS Architecture.
  • Strong working knowledge of specific cloud services such as: Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Route 53, and Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC).
  • Experience in Linux and/or Windows Server administration.
  • Understanding of application architecture and best practices.
  • Experience working with VMware and Virtual server environments. 
  • Understanding of SAN storage environments and SAN network infrastructure.
  • Understanding of securing systems and assisting with application security best practices.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users.
  • Outstanding communications and initiative with excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - team player, personable, professional, upbeat, and energetic, takes initiative, uses tact and diplomacy.
  • Valid driver's license with access to transportation to travel on organization business. 
  • Flexibility to work weekend, holiday, and evening hours as needed in addition to normal business hours.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work at a computer for extended periods of time with repetitive typing, arm and hand motion.
