Responsible for continuously monitoring the system and as exceptions occur, evaluate and determine the best course of action to correct the problem using your own judgment. For Example:

* While monitoring the system, if you see an application CPU spike to over 50%, you will gather information as to the cause of the spike using Unix/Linux and other system skills to identify what process is consuming the CPU and then correct or report the issue

* If the database is having performance issues while being monitored, you will research and identify what is consuming the CPU then correct or report the issue

You are expected to determine root causes, evaluate the best solution, document it, and either correct the issue or routes the issue to the appropriate team. For Example:

* If a CRON job fails, identify the root cause and corrects the issue regardless of the environment (Production, Training, Testing, or Development).

* Responsible for configuring agents on servers for collection of logs to set up alerts for the SPLUNK logging tool. If logging has an issue, perform independent analysis of scripts, determine the best course of action, and apply it.
