GoAhead Solutions has an immediate need for a Computer Operator *Graveyard shift in Ann Arbor, MI. This would be a Three month contract to start out. Computer Operator graveyard shift will cover Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00pm to 8:00am.
Operates and monitors all hardware in the Ann Arbor Data Center (includes all systems and servers, storage and tape devices, network and telephony equipment) and primary responsibility for the completion of production schedules, cycles and backups. Ensure maximum availability of facility infrastructure, systems applications and production workloads via established monitoring and control practices for the local healthcare data center as well as remote data centers. Assist in problem resolution relating to all hardware and software in the Data Center by providing diagnostics, troubleshooting and quick/efficient resolution on all problems. Must be able to work and multi-task effectively in a fast paced 24x7; 365 day mixed systems environment. Good communication skills and team player attitude required. Very strong attention-to-detail skills are essential. Meet and/or exceed Customer service level expectations for assigned service requests, changes and incidents.
-Utilize established tools and procedures to proactively monitor and control all facility infrastructure, system, application and production workload performance to ensure maximum throughput and availability to ensure that all SLAs are met.
-Operate and monitor all hardware in the Data Center and remote sites, including all network and telecommunications links. Responsible for monitoring and responding to problems within the Data Center environment, including power, A/C, cleanliness and emergency services (fire, water and intrusion alarms).
-Act as technical liaison between the Client/Customer and Technical Entities outside the data center (Vendors, Engineering, etc.).
-Fulfill ticket requests as they come in for racking and stacking servers (both new and reallocated) and network, SAN and copper cabling of all projects coming in to the data center.
-Determine priorities and schedule work flows according to departmental and client deliverable expectations.
-Provide support to the Platform, Storage, Network, Telephony and DBA teams as required.
-Document shift activity. Notify appropriate technical staff via established procedures. Facilitate and perform shift turnover.
-Manage Media Library inventory (45,000+ pieces), including receipt, logging, tracking and appropriate disposal of media. Monitor and maintain offsite vault, cycling critical media for disaster recovery storage.
SKILLS: (List technical requirements and knowledge)
-Working knowledge of UNIX and standard operating procedures. Additional OS, PC configuration and/or repair experience a plus.
-Must be organized, logical, and well documented. This position requires a mix of technical knowledge, analytical ability, clear written and verbal communication skills, and an understanding of system processes and production work flows.
-Must be able to demonstrate the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deliverables simultaneously with the ability to adapt to change easily and function in a deadline driven environment.
-Strong organizational skills.
-Ability to learn new technologies quickly in a self-study environment.
-Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
-This position has a physical component requiring the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. and may require working in cramped spaces. Applicant must also be able to perform racking of equipment, and cabling of devices.
-Ability to work shift hours in a 24/7/365 environment.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Computer Operator Certification and 1-2 years of experience also accepted.
Computer Operators are require to lift and carry tapes, disks, paper, and other supplies, which may weigh up to 100 pounds. Valid Michigan drivers* license required. Tolerance to high noise level is necessary.
