Job Description

ASSYST is looking for a few Configuration Management Specialists Junior to Mid Level to join our team in Sterling, VA.

Primary Job Responsibilities:         

  • Help guide engineering, software development, and other teams, through approved change and configuration management processes
  • Track, control, audit and report on IT configuration changes and related activities
  • Help manage master inventory of IT infrastructure, applications, and releases
  • Help maintain Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
  • Ensure validation and operational control of IT Configuration Items (CI), including software baseline and documentation; coordinate with technical leads and Project Control Specialists/Business Relation Managers/Delivery Managers to ensure proper configuration control of all system updates
  • Support metrics and reporting
  • Create and monitor tickets for team tasks, using BMC Remedy
  • Assist in developing and maintaining CM processes, policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other documents
  • Support and train end users on approved CM policies, procedures and activities
  • Provide input into continuing process improvements
  • Other related tasks as assigned

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship, with Secret Clearance REQUIRED
  • Minimum one year experience (more for mid-level), in a job requiring to be detail-oriented and meticulous
  • Experience in enterprise IT Change and Configuration Management
  • Experience using CM tools such as IBM Rational, BMC Remedy and SharePoint
  • Experience with CMDB and conducting CI audits preferred (for mid-level)
  • Experience drafting, documenting and training on processes, work instructions, etc.
  • Ability to prioritize/reprioritize tasks dynamically based on needs analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer service oriented self-starter, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills
  • Quick learner, with strong research and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of CM industry standards, such as ITIL/ITSM, Capability Maturity Model (CMM), MIL Standards
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology related field preferred, but other relevant degrees will also be considered. Experience can be substituted for degree
  • ITIL/ITSM and/or CM Certification a plus
