Job Description

Please note that this is a 3 months+ contract position.

 

Serves as a liaison between company branches or regional laboratories and its customers in response to inquires and problems. Researches, troubleshoots and resolves customer problems. Performs a wide variety of administrative/clerical duties (i.e., payroll, paternity testing, billing, data entry, and phlebotomy). 

 

**STRONGLY PREFER candidates to be bilingual English/Spanish** 

  • Position will require candidates to answer inbound calls, resolving billing issues, collecting outstanding balances, and processing patient correspondence. Calls will be coming from patients, doctors, and insurance companies to answer questions and resolve billing issues & inquiries. Will be collecting electronic payments, updating claims/denials, updating insurance info, discussing outstanding balances and offering payment options/plans. 
  • Successful candidates will have a customer service background (this is a call center environment). Prior collections experience is also a plus, but the focus of this department is customer service. The manager said that the agents should express a sense of urgency and help the patients understand their bill but never be aggressive or rude about collections. All calls are inbound.
  • Medical billing/coding experience is not required. This department is not medically trained, and are simply answering questions about billing not test results or other lab services. 
  • Position duration is 12 weeks, but there are direct hire openings in department. Should candidate be successful in contract role, they would have option to apply to and be considered for company openings.  

 

Skill Requirements

Administrative: Answer telephones, maintain logs/records, organizational skills, proficiency with numbers, research information, time management, train employees, use computerized databases, written and verbal communications.

Machine: Calculator, personal computer.

Physical Demands: Speech clarity, utilization of fingers and hands, standing-remaining on one’s feet in an upright position, sitting-remaining in the normal seated position, handling-seizing, holding, grasping and possible casual to regular lifting of up to 50 pounds.

Vision Requirements: Able to pass standardized color vision test, as required by test performed.

License/Certification/Education: Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent w/1-3 years of applicable experience.
