Job Description

Our client is an independent Federal government agency in the Executive Branch with responsibility for the oversight of the Department of Energy (DOE) s defense nuclear facilities located throughout the United States. This agencies IT and Network infrastructure is comprised of a variety of physical and virtual systems that need to be secured. The ideal candidate will provide industry standard best practices to assure the security posture of the organization to include advisory and technical support. This position supports the administration, governance and technical support teams for all IT infrastructure, networks and end user hardware and software at both the Primary Site location/ HQs and COOP locations while maintaining focus on Information Assurance (IA) and Cyber Security in coordination with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). This position supports the customer at the operational level by monitoring attempted intrusions and performing security assessments on IT assets, and researching, writing and implementing policies related to vulnerability management and cyber security incident response. The position will also support the onsite CISO by performing Certification and Accreditation (C&A) to existing and new systems.

Provides tactical Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) maintaining ongoing awareness of information security, vulnerabilities, and threats to support organizational risk management decisions

Performs endpoint vulnerabilities research and investigations, including proposal of alternative solutions to mitigate risks

Investigates (researches) available tools and countermeasures to remedy detected vulnerabilities, and recommends solutions and best practices

Analyzes security event audit log information from network security devices (e.g., network and host-based security systems, firewalls, routers, switches, etc.) and mission critical servers for anomalies and known attack patterns

Monitors and investigates alerts from within the Cyber Security IT Infrastructure

Monitors data from various sources including intrusion detection systems and other security tools and firewalls

Provide configuration management for security-related information system software, hardware, and firmware


Must be a U.S. Citizen

Must have a Bachelors Degree in a technical or related field.

Clearance: Must have a favorable National Agency Check; National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) investigation or the ability to successfully achieve; reciprocity considered for active Secret Clearance

3-4 years related experience in Information Assurance and IT Security in a Federal Government Agency

CompTia Security+ w/CE certification (equivalent or higher)

Knowledge of Federal regulations and standards, such as the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Security Publication 800-53, standards and guidance published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Security Publications

Industry knowledge and experience with information security toolsets including anti-virus, assessment, scanning tools

Demonstrate knowledge of system artifacts

Expert ability to communicate in both oral and written forms


AlienVault Unified Security Management (or expertise in an equivalent tool)

Experience analyzing Sonic Firewall audit logs (or expertise in an equivalent tool)

Varonis tool suite (or expertise in an equivalent tool)

Tenable Nessus Manager (or expertise in an equivalent tool)

ForeScout CounterACT (or expertise in an equivalent tool)
