Job Description

Designs and builds relational databases for data storage or processing. Applies advanced technical expertise to improve and preserve the quality and accuracy of data.  Formats data for further analysis, decision-making, or reporting.  May mentor less experienced data analysts.

EXPECTATIONS

  • Develops strategies for warehouse implementation, data acquisition, and access. 
  • Builds data models and defines the structure, attributes, and nomenclature of data elements. 
  • Monitors system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new features.
  • Evaluates new data sources for adherence to the organization's quality standards and ease of integration.
  • Contributes to departmental policies and operational procedures to recommend improvements and implement approved changes.
  • Remains abreast of industry trends, products, technologies, best practices, standards of conduct, ethics, competitive landscape, and legal and regulatory changes to recommend updates to strategic and operational plans for leadership decision-making.
  • Works closely with business partners to resolve data discrepancies, explains data findings, and garners final approval of the source-to-target mappings.
  • Collaborates with the data modelers, data engineers, and QA team to ensure that the data is properly loaded into the data warehouse.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION - REQUIRED

  • High School Diploma

EDUCATION - PREFERRED

  • BS - Bachelor of Sciences

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • A minimum of five years of related experience
  • At least two years experience working with Snowflake
  • Requires in-depth understanding of database structure principles, systems, data mining, and systems integration.
  • Advanced knowledge of data warehouse concepts. 
  • Strong data manipulation and data analysis skills. 
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills are preferred to ensure repetitive tasks can be completed in an efficient manner.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge to optimize for queries that analyze source data to understand relationships within the data.
  • Requires experience in data mining and analysis.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Requires proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Experience in financial services industry preferred.
