Job Description

Data Governance Project Manager

The Data Governance Project Manager manages a team of governance leads, legal/privacy leads, business stakeholders, and information technology professionals to update the enterprise data retirement policy and implement a data cleanup strategy (for example, anonymize, purge) in direct support of our enterprise objectives. The ideal candidate for this role should have a Data Privacy, Data Governance, Data Compliance, and application and systems technical knowledge or background. In addition, a deep and modern project management foundation (Waterfall and Agile) is required. The Data Governance Project Manager is expected to continually evolve internal functional requirements into documentation, procure architecture (before/after) diagrams, deployment processes/procedures, effectively manage a team (>50) of key business stakeholders, and deliver projects on time and budget. Act as a key liaison between business and technology stakeholders to capture business requirements and deliver systems solutions.
Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Plan, including the configuration management, risk management, project measurement, and quality management plans.
  • Develop and review estimates and estimating assumptions for the project’s schedule, effort, and cost using established estimating models, best practices, and past experience.
  • Define team member roles and expectations and ensure timely feedback.
  • Review, and be responsible for, the overall development and integration of requirements.
  • Measure and monitor progress at clearly defined points in the process to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and that it meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Balance scope, schedule, quality, and risks.
  • Define the project iterations strategy. Manage and evaluate iterations.
  • Manage conflicting priorities, multiple assignments and drive/coordinate project meetings.
  • Provide monthly updates to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Manage requirements, project plans, and timeline communication to all affected team members.
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations.
  • Ensure that the project team follows all quality assurance processes, including periodic reviews and transitions.
  • Review and manage all changes to the requirements through a formally defined scope change process.
  • Represent the project team in meetings.
  • Ensure that the end product fulfills the contract and meets the sponsor's expectations.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics or a Master’s degree in Business or Science discipline.
  • Project Management Professional certification
  • Scrum Master certification

Required Years of Experience:

  • Seven or more years working in a technology environment.
  • Five or more years of experience in Project Management (Waterfall and Agile methodology).
  • Knowledge/experience managing projects in the  governance/audit/compliance/information security space.
  • Practical experience of delivering large cross-organization projects and programs.
