As a Data Quality Engineer, you will be working primarily with the different phases of the data factory and implementing test scripts to ensure data quality. You will be responsible for identifying the areas that needs quality checks to be implemented, design tests from an analytical perspective and integrate it with the system to ensure reliability and prevent regression.
Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, you will be working in an agile environment responsible for implementing quality checks to ensure data quality from the data factory perspective, including:
Work closely with the Analysts and Data factory engineers to ensure ETL code correctness
Understand the incoming data, identify locations of data elements of interest, and put together a test plan
Build regression test suite for the data warehouse
Identify and implement big data validation with emerging technology for the data pipeline.
Contribute to technical documentation of test plans and processes
Participate in ongoing innovation to improve processes and bring scale
Contribute to tools/framework development to aid in data testing effort.
Contribute to evolution of company level software development best practices, standards, and policies.
Ability to work individually and within groups
3+ years of experience working with data, analyzing data and understanding data
3+ years of combined software QA and/or software development experience
Ability to query large data sets using SQL
Bachelor's degree, or work equivalent, in data sciences, health information systems, computer science or related field
Query optimization skills
Experience working with any object-oriented programming language like Java, Python, Scala.
Working knowledge of health information systems
Healthcare data domain knowledge
Spark engine knowledge/experience
Highly analytical, curious and creative
Strong organization skills, very detail oriented, with careful attention to work processes
Takes ownership of responsibilities and follows through on hand-offs to other groups
Enjoys a fast-paced environment and the opportunity to quickly learn new skills
Ability to work creatively and flexibly, both independently and as part of a team
Experience with or an interest in learning to work with complex health care databases
Good written and oral communications skills
Ability to analyze user requests, define requirements, investigate and report conclusions.
