Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Data Scientist 3/4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located at Annapolis Junction, MD. This position is located within a customer facilities.
Roles and Responsibilities:


Candidate will perform various systems engineering practices supporting the Cyber Security Operations (CSO) Cyber Knowledge Management (CKM) which leverages Knowledge Driven Operations (KDO) to capture, counter, share, and target adversary cyber operations. The CKM team is seeking a self-starting candidate capable of multi-tasking as several skills may be utilized. For example, the candidate may develop a technical trade study to support operational decisions, further those decisions to formulate sustainable operational rules, and support the outcome through metrics in one week; wherein the following week, the candidate may develop a software prototype using Python that characterizes and models data sets from several Hadoop cloud instances to identify adversary tactics, techniques or procedures and matures the prototype to become a rules engine or automated analytic that furthers our core cyber mission: detect, inform, and counter cyber adversaries at net speed. These tasks cover systems engineering and data science disciplines that require the candidate to apply critical thinking and mission-centric logic while using a variety of software tools and resources, such as: Python, Java Script, C++, Snort, Yara, Jupyter Notebooks, MapReduce, bash, virtual machines, ELK, and PIG. This could include writing scripts to interface with enterprise systems, extract and parse various enterprise data formats, updating large databases with new cyber threats, and training fellow net defenders on emerging technologies, analytic tools, or tradecraft workflows. This position can be filled at either a Level 3 or a Level 4 based on the following qualifications. Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:


* 5 years of experience working with data analysis methodologies, statistical reporting or data mining within large data sets.


* Experience with open source and enterprise data science, collection, database, and dissemination systems like Jupyter Notebooks, Kibana, and Python in a data analytic environment.


* Experience writing requirements and coordinating/negotiating the design and implementation of those requirements with all stakeholders.


* Experience with the collaboration of multiple organizations across the agency, including working with various products within CSO and the Capabilities Directorate.


* Ability to work in fast-paced environment as self-starter, able to learn new technologies relatively quickly


* Working knowledge of data modeling/tagging, target/entity management and Cyber taxonomies


* Working knowledge of information security and architecture. (e.g., PKI, auditing).


* 2+ years experience in the SIGINT mission


* 2+ years experience in the network defensive mission Basic Qualifications Level 4


* 9 years of experience working with data analysis methodologies, statistical reporting or data mining within large data sets.

Preferred Qualifications:


* Understanding of fundamental cyber security, cyber operational awareness, and computer network defense practices are helpful.


* Familiarity with Service Oriented Architectures (e.g. REST).


* Working knowledge of near real-time messaging and data distribution/messaging architectures (e.g., JMS)* Experience supporting an operational environment to include management of customer and mission needs and balancing those needs with software deployments


* Working knowledge of Cyber activities to include networks and the associated technologies including routers, firewalls and cross-domain solutions


* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience giving briefings


* Working knowledge of the major data repositories


* Working knowledge of the various CSO and Capabilities systems


* Familiarity with the various dataflows related to the CSO systems


* Experience with and understanding of the enterprise cloud convergence effort


* Understanding of cloud technologies and the applications associated with the cloud


* Experience with the support of operational systems, including managing customer and developer relationships


* Familiarity with CSO, Agency and community knowledge sharing and dissemination processes, workflows and policies.


* Familiarity with Enterprise and Community and Header initiatives to include specification and application in Agency systems. Education: System Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional system engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required.
