Job Description

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a talented data scientist to join our Data Analytics and Cognitive Autonomy operating unit. This position provides the opportunity to discover emerging technologies and apply innovative approaches for data mining, predictive modeling, and user visualizations. The work will emphasize the processing of human behavioral and neurophysiological data. The individual is expected to possess a variety of skills in programming languages and statistical analysis techniques coupled with an intuitive nature to drive data-driven insight for optimizing human-machine systems. The ideal candidate has a passion for data analytics and a creative aptitude for developing scalable and adaptable solutions in a collaborative multi-functional environment. By applying predictive modeling, design of experiments, data integration, and optimization techniques, the individual will elevate informed decision making for the resolution of product, process, and system challenges. Responsibilities:

* Lead the development of predictive models for actionable insight

* Create data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets

* Research, evaluate, and determine the best fit of tools and techniques

* Conduct data analysis, data integration, and data management

* Enhance, scale, and automate analytics capabilities, models, and visualizations

* Collaborate with external functional organizations for process, data, and system understanding

* Communicate project status and findings to various levels of leadership


Basic Qualifications:

* BS in Statistics/Mathematics, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Engineering related discipline

* 5+ years of relevant experience in analytics with BS, 3+ Years with Masters

* Strong data management, data mining, algorithms and analytical abilities

* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, C++, Java

* A flexible analytic approach that allows for results at varying levels of precision

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree is preferred

* Experience with Hadoop, SQL and building multi-dimensional models

* Proficiency in analytical modeling and statistical tools such as Matlab, SAS, SPSS, R project

* Ability to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned
