Job Description

The Data Scientist will serve as a key member of our Business Analytics Group.  In this role, you will work as part of a team that has primary responsibility for identifying and providing data-driven solutions to complex business problems. You will design and drive the creation of new analytical models and capabilities embedded in multiple business applications. Within the Analytics Group, you will work individually and with team members to gather and analyze large volumes of data, evaluate scenarios to make predictions on future outcomes, and support decision making. You must be comfortable using advanced statistical data modeling techniques and tools. You will be expected to work closely with the Chief Information and Credit Officer and other key business leaders to understand and perform effective analyses.  This position will report to the Chief Information and Credit Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Work to leverage sophisticated data analysis techniques to solve business problems
  • Responsible for using analytic techniques like advanced data visualizations, machine learning, Natural Language Processing, and large-scale optimization to improve product performance and customers’ experiences
  • Work closely with business leaders to identify and answer important questions that help improve outcomes
  • Interpret problems and provide solutions using appropriate data modeling techniques
  • Develop prototypes for new data product ideas
  • Design large scale models using Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Conjoint Analysis, Spatial models, Time-series models, and Machine Learning algorithms
  • Utilize Natural Language Processing to analyze speech and social data
  • Communicate findings to operational and executive leadership
  • Drive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data
  • Analyze and interpret the results of product experiments
  • Regularly invent new and novel approaches to problems; take initiative and break down barriers to solve problems; recognized within team as a key source of solutions
  • Comfortable manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high dimensionality data from multiple sources
  • A strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data

  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree (Master's or PhD preferred) within an engineering, statistics, or hard sciences discipline
  • 2-4 years of progressive experience in a data science role applying the scientific method to the analysis of complex business problems
  • Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP experience and also working in Hadoop and/or Spark environment
  • Familiarity with common advanced analysis tools - SQL, Python, R, SAS are preferred
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts
  • Ability to ask and tackle important analytical questions with a view to generating business impact
