Overview

The Data and Reporting Analyst II - IT Services will be responsible for providing analytical and reporting support to the IT organization. Additional responsibilities will include making a productive contribution to key business initiatives and audits requests. This position requires moderate coordination with other departments and business partners in order to provide support.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

  • Design and build queries, reports, and dashboards using various data visualization tools including, but not limited to, PowerBI and/or Cognos Analytics, MS Excel and ServiceNow's Performance Analytics
  • Identify, define, and produce accurate and meaningful metrics in an effort to deliver high quality, actionable, efficient and interactive reporting to drive business decisions
  • Produce analytic reports, which extract meaningful insights for leadership to better understand and improve business performance
  • Produce IT executive, operational, performance, and financial reporting
  • Evaluate current reporting processes and make recommendations for improvements and efficiencies
  • Maintain thorough understanding of data and information resources
  • With general supervision, work in a collaborative and constructive manner with internal stakeholders and various business units to complete tasks with time sensitive deadlines
  • Accountable for data validation of all reports/analysis
  • Assist in developing and maintaining process documentation
  • Provide and seek training and mentoring from peers for cross-functional growth, learning and career development
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationship with IT and other stakeholders
  • Take raw datasets and transfer them into Executive presentations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conform with all company policies and procedures


Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Skilled in data analytics/data presentation
  • Deep understanding of database technology and design concepts
  • Intermediate computer skills, including, but not limited to, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, PowerBI and/or Cognos Analytics, ServiceNow and SQL
  • Knowledge of general business practices and concepts, as it relates to IT and the financial industry
  • Working knowledge of ITIL practices

  • Ability to understand GM Financial's business; apply knowledge and critical thinking skills in day-to-day problems and solutions
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to draw conclusions based on data
  • Must be able use appropriate analysis, judgment, logic and communication methods when solving problems and making decisions
  • Detail oriented, with a structured approach to planning and organization
  • Capable of working both independently and as a contributing team member, to meet team and department goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possesses the skill to display the utmost level of professionalism, tact and discretion
  • Ability to relate well with others, build relationships and constructively interact with a variety of people and situations
  • Must effectively present concepts and ideas
  • Must take initiative to explore best practices, keep up-to-date with technology changes & training related to reporting and analytics
  • Ability to make decisions with guidance from management
  • At all times, maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy of information

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience preferred

Experience

  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar role required
  • 2-4 years of experience with relational databases and BI tools required
  • 2-4 years developing analytic reporting required
  • 2-4 years experience developing ServiceNow reporting preferred

Licenses

  • ITIL foundations certification preferred

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment subject to stressful situations
  • Flexible schedule with possibility of working long hours including weekends/holidays, occasional overtime or split shifts may be required
