Jira Administrator

Philadelphia, PA  19103

  • Keep the lights on: Set-up, administration, maintenance, upgrade, and technical support of Jira and Confluence (Cloud version) in support of 2,000 users (on-shore and off-shore).

  • 24x7 System Availability M-F: Ensure Jira and Confluence is up and running 24X7.

  • Plug-Ins: Maintain and configure 3rd party add-ons for Atlassian products to provide enhanced capabilities (Portfolio for JIRA, Script Runner, Zephyr, etc.).

  • Internal Client Support: Support on average 20-25 client requests, with a 2-day SLA. Request examples: design custom workflows, fields, screens, dashboards, and reports.

  • Expert Internal Consultant: Be the “Go To” person who understands and advises on best practices of project setup and maintenance.

  • Training: Schedule and conduct “lunch and learn sessions”, “one-on-one training” on JIRA and Confluence usage, administration, and operational use and best practices.

  • Migration: If required, migrate across multiple JIRA and Confluence instances, handle and tweak XML backups as needed.

  • Jira Admin and Developer is both a “doer” and “leader” as this person is responsible for ensuring that Jira and Confluence is available 24X7 as it supports 2,000 users, most of whom are the agile development, testing, business analysis and solution design teams.


  • 4+ years’ experience with Jira and Confluence configuration and administration, preferably Cloud version

  • Highly proficient in Python, Groovy Scripting, SQL and Oracle database querying and maintenance

  • Hands-on experience with set-up and maintenance of Jira Portfolio and Script Runner

  • Plus: working knowledge with Ruby, Tableau, big data analytics and data ware housing

  • Ensure Jira and Confluence is up and running 24X7, which may require working evenings and weekends

  • Experience working in a truly “fast-paced” agile environment - no kidding.

  • Experience managing multiple internal and external client requests and meeting deliverable SLAs

  • Leader, self-starter, ability to work with little direction in a fast paced and ever-changing environment

  • Great relationship building skills given interface with people of all levels including Executive Leadership

  • Be courteous and open to work with diverse teams across different time zones

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
