Job Description

Link Technologies is currently seeking a Database Administrator for a client in Las Vegas, NV. This is a long-term position, with a heavy focus on maintaining SQL databases in a Windows environment. The Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining databases and all associated items, troubleshooting database issues, and assisting with database projects as needed. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Must have extensive experience with Microsoft SQL
  • Strong knowledge of database design, maintenance, and security practices
  • Technical experience with developing stored procedures, joining tables, processing data, improving performance, and writing triggers for advanced validation
  • Experience with other databases such as MS Access and/or IBM DB2 preferred
  • Experience with client/server architectures, internet, intranet, and extranet
  • Strong understanding of IT processes, equipment, applications, and software
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements as it pertains to change management and access control
  • Understanding of Storage Area Networks (SAN) and configuring database servers and disk requirements
  • Ability to create database implementation project plans and identify critical path
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills to create technical database documents and project plans
  • Experience working in the gaming or hospitality industry preferred

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Maintaining and administering databases to include design, database creation, capacity planning, definition of data structures, tuning and backups, and business continuity planning
  • Designing and implementing schemas
  • Establishing backup and data recovery procedures
  • Responsible for eliminating redundancies and ensuring data security and integrity
  • Write and maintain database documentation to include diagrams, schemas, standards, and procedures
  • Troubleshooting database and associated application issues
  • Designing and maintaining Microsoft SQL database applications
  • Monitoring and maintaining database performance and utilization
  • Installing upgrades, new versions, and patching as needed
  • Creating complex reports and providing to senior leadership
  • Remaining up to date on database best practices and new technologies and recommending solutions
