Consultant- Database Administrator
AltaSource Group is looking for a Database Administrator for our global wealth company in Seattle, WA! They are a leading global asset management firm providing systematic, rules-based investment strategies and customized exposure management to institutions and individual investors around the world.
The Database Administrator is responsible for implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of their critical databases. They ensure availability and consistent performance of their enterprise applications leveraging Microsoft SQL Server, Azure, Amazon RDS, and various other database technologies in a hybrid cloud environment.
This is a hands-on position requiring solid technical capability as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The Database Administrator will be expected to perform a wide variety of mission-critical functions and will work directly with Systems Engineers and Developers to achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives while also ensuring that the company s production databases offer the highest reliability and performance.
This role is primarily focused on supporting existing Microsoft SQL Server based infrastructure, however, we are looking for candidates with experience managing Cloud hosted database instances with exposure to hybrid On-Premise/Cloud environments to support their ongoing Cloud journey.
Day to Day, you will:
Manage MSSQL Server databases across multiple environments including Development, QA, and critical Production systems
Configure and maintain database servers including patching/lifecycle and health/performance/capacity monitoring
Participate in and support On-Premise and Cloud database deployments and migrations
Monitor and support database backup and recovery processes
Troubleshoot database issues, providing end-to-end support and documenting solutions
Participate in defining, implementing, and maintaining business continuity and high availability database strategies
Assist with complex query tuning
Database SME acting as technical leader/mentor for junior staff
Work with IT Security/Audit teams to implement secure database architecture
Evaluates potential database related technology
Your knowledge and skill-set should include:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
5+ years Database Administration or Database Engineering experience
Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO) using native and 3rd party monitoring/troubleshooting tools
Experience supporting database backups, restores and various recovery models
Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery strategies for MSSQL Server
Experience implementing operational automation for database management
Experience performing MSSQL database migrations and upgrades
Knowledge of database indexing management and statistics
Experience supporting Windows Server 2016+
Experience with SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Analysis Services, and SQL Server Reporting Services
Excellent communication and organizational skills including ability to work independently to complete defined tasks/goals
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies preferred
Experience with AWS hosted database technologies (RDS, DynamoDB, etc.) preferred
Experience with MongoDB preferred
Pay Rate: $70/hr.
