Job Description

Taos is immediately hiring a Database Engineer to work with an innovative tech company in Palo Alto, CA!

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing operational support for critical globally distributed cloud database infrastructure
  • Analyzing automation, monitoring, and tools gaps in the Data Services infrastructure and designing and building processes and solutions to address
  • Learning additional database technologies in the Data Services stack such as Hadoop, SAP Hana, Redis, Influxdb, Cassandra, MySQL, SAP Replication Server, and SAP ASE to provide development and operational support
  • Driving innovation and the adoption of new technologies in the organization to increase agility and continuous improvement feedback loops
  • Building relationships with engineering colleagues and collaborating on application design

What you’ll bring with you:

  •  At least 5 years of DBA experience with Oracle, Hadoop, Cassandra, Mongo covering installation, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
  • Demonstrated programming skills in one or more languages (Python, Perl, Ruby, Java, C) specifically for systems automation
  • Tenacious troubleshooting skills that span systems, network, and application: you can fix anything
  • Additional skills below are bonuses:
    • B.S. or higher in Computer Science or other technical discipline
    • Cloud Experience in any enterprise cloud
    • Deep UNIX/Linux systems knowledge and/or systems administration background
    • Database geek
    • Obsessively detail-oriented
    • Familiarity with infrastructure automation using tools like Salt, Chef, and Puppet
    • Adept at using source code revision systems such as Perforce, Subversion or CVS
