Database Manager

 

SUMMARY:

Tucker-Rose Associates is seeking a Database Manager to help support The Office of Occupational Safety and Health. OSH is the program office for supporting and implementing the Department of the Interior’s (DOI) Safety Management Information System (SMIS).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The overall scope of this contract is to support OSH SMIS system. The support provided by this contract is mission critical to the operation of SMIS.

  • Work with SMIS users to de-duplicate data via SQL.
  • Identify duplicates across the SMIS database
  • Validate data with SMIS users and de-duplicate records
  • Write queries to monitor for data duplication
  • Develop SQL queries to review, evaluate, and maintain the accuracy of the database.
  • Website debugging, reporting, and correction.
  • Work with SMIS users and developers to create procedures to prevent data discrepancies from re-occurring as the subject matter expert.
  • Review previous errors within SMIS and offer resolution based on experience with the SMIS system and bureau safety process
  • SMIS user account creation and access modification
  • SMIS Users profile updates
  • Document ad-hoc report request
  • Develop queries and deliver necessary data in the format requested (Excel, flat file, Tableau, PowerPoint)
  • Customized compensation reports in support of OWCP compensation evaluation via SQL
  • Create scheduled reporting to bureau contacts on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Bi-Weekly FPPS Data transfer
  • SMIS Development Assistance
  • Work with the SMIS team as the subject matter expert on the development of new modules and changes to the system
  • Test changes, document issues, and report issues to the SMIS development team
  • OWCP Chargeback Data Integration
  • Ad Hoc Development Requests
  • Assist in the development of SMIS to the project specifications (over term of the contract there will be dozens of projects that the SMIS team develops and implements)

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience
  • Candidate should be a senior level person that possesses a degree in computer science, information systems, or other directly related discipline with at least ten years’ experience in the areas of expertise identified below.

Alternative qualifications include:

  • A master’s degree may be substituted for two years’ experience.
  • One year of additional IT experience may be substituted for each year of degree-level education.
  • MS/SQL database management and development
  • Development and troubleshooting of MS/SQL stored procedures
  • Development and troubleshooting of MS/SQL table structure and joins
  • Understanding of data encryption and best practices in dealing with PII (Personally identifiable information)
  • Ad-hoc issue mitigation using MS/SQL
  • Ad-hoc customer reporting needs using MS/SQL
  • Create statistical reports and charts for DOI/bureaus management
  • Development of stored procedures for reporting automation using MS/SQL
  • Excel data manipulation, chart, and graph creation
