Summary: The Desktop Image System Engineer Senior Engineer is to serve as a program lead for the purpose of deploying thick and thin client desktop OS solutions and promoting structured software engineering and process improvement initiatives across a distributed virtual desktop enterprise. The OS Image Lead designs/integrates operating system deployment solutions for Enterprise-wide rollouts and upgrades; designs and manages baseline image creation for multiple hardware configurations; and provides preventative maintenance and troubleshooting expertise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position)


  • Develop architectural design documentation for desktop hardware, physical and virtual operating systems and management capabilities

  • Perform secure baseline image creation and tailoring of Windows operating system images for specific hardware configurations from a common core baseline

  • Support application packaging, deployments, documentation, and release control in an Enterprise environment

  • Utilize PowerShell scripting to maximize productivity of platform management

  • Maintain platform security and compliance with PCI to protect data and including desktop security patching and management of segmented virtual desktop environment

  • Define, create and test Group Policy updates for desktop OS

  • Utilize standard enterprise tools to develop or implement infrastructure hardware, software or other technical components

  • Provide preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and quickly resolve routine problems to ensure infrastructure stability

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education.
  • A combination of 5+ years of experience to include the following areas:

    • Active Directory

    • Hyper-V SCVMM (2012)

    • Microsoft Server (2012 R2 preferred)

    • Microsoft DHCP/DNS Server

    • SQL Database (2014 preferred)

    • PowerShell Scripting

    • SCCM,OSD, MDT, WSUS

  • Possess one of the following certifications:


    • MCITP

    • MCSA

    • MCSE

    • MCSA

    • MCTS
  • Experience in a large, geographically dispersed environment
  • Extensive experience in the following:
    • Microsoft Windows client operating system
      • Tailored images for Windows 7 and 10
    • Active Directory design and administration
    • Microsoft Deployment Toolkit
    • SCMM
    • WSUS
  • Preferred but not required experience to include:
    • Dell Hardware
    • Citrix XenDesktop 7
  • TS/SCI with CI Poly

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Technical documentation skills
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art engineering technical approaches in design, build, testing, debugging problems as required by domain
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be DoD 8570 compliant within 90 days of hire
