Job Description

Job Title : Dev Ops Agile coaches

Location: Pleasanton, CA.

Duration : Full time

 Needs to be available Mon-Thu 9-5 on-site at least 3 weeks out of a month

Heavy background in one or more of:

  • Dev
  • Test
  • Ops

Needs to possess no-to-low ego. Is here to help and educate rather than compete for who is better

Understands source control and tools like Git CLI, SourceTree

Understands branching, merging, PR

Understands Ticket Based Development

Understands concept of Pipeline and code promotion path through environments

Understands importance of communication tools like HipChat

 Working knowledge of Jenkins:

  • GUI
  • Job configuration and plugins
  • Jenkinsfile Pipelines

Need to be comfortable in at least one mainstream coding language (Java, JS, Ruby, Python, C#)

Can effectively communicate in 1:1 and large audience formats


  • Understands daily life of software developer
  • Understands importance of local development
  • IDE
  • Git tooling
  • Testing

Knows BDD and understands value it brings

Knows about Code Coverage and tools that can monitor it

Knows Cucumber, and can implement for various languages

Knows unit test frameworks, like Junit

 Knows testing philosophies like:

  • Independent test cases
  • Avoid always passing tests
  • No assumptions, do not trust anyone and anything

Understands test suites (@smoke, @regression) and Why behind them

Knows different types of testing

  • Knows Test Framework setup (runner)
  • Hooks
  • Configurations and profiles
  • Reporting


Knows Selenium WebDriver:

  • WebDriver Capabilities
  • Concept of Selenium Grid
  • Headless mode



  • Advocates for High Visibility tools (SonarQube, JIRA, Jenkins, Confluence)
  • Reinforcement of collaboration between Squad member roles
  • Reinforcement of communication via HipChat
  • Reinforcement of knowledge sharing via Confluence, brown bags, demos
  • Reinforcement small batch delivery
  • Reinforce short lived branches
  • Help out teams to stand up test automation
  • Educate on importance of PR process as a means of delivering quality
  • Advocate for increasing test automation coverage with each release
  • Improve the usage/adoption of FotF tools and pipelines, reiterate on CI/CD methodology
  • Keep the team releasing every 2 weeks
  • Educate on branching strategy. Remind that release branches should not be created early on in SDLC
  • Advocates for QA rather than testing as a phase in SDLC
  • Promote "the whole team is responsible for green builds" mindset
  • Work closely with squad leaders to provide feedback and uplift opportunities
  • Promotes pairing
  • Dev-dev

  • Educate on better ways to run sprint planning session
  • BDD
  • 3 amigos approach
  • Estimation
  • No overcommitment
  • Educate and coach on Bobcat
  • Educates on importance of sprint retrospectives
