The Distributed Container Messaging (DCM) team is looking for a hands-on subject matter expert to provide support for development and operation activities across the enterprise.  In this role, you will provide high-level technical support and sustaining engineering services to maximize uptime and reduce IT costs.  You’ll work with customers, developers, architects and operations teams to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues in a timely manner.  Other day-to-day work includes, but not limited to; triage of issues with the application teams and vendors, SME on Messaging (AMQ/Kafka & IBM MQ) products on both internal cloud OpenShift and AWS, deploying messaging products via CI/DI Pipeline, capacity management, creation of automation, and product patching/upgrades.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter and motivated to document processes and actions.  Able to learn and adapt quickly, work in a fast-paced, team-driven environment and has great communication skills with both technical and non-technical business partners.  

The Work Itself

• Ensure availability, reliability, and performance of Messaging Platforms.
• Coordinate, escalate, resolve, and close any service request, incident, problem, and change management issues assigned to DCM team.
• Perform patching, software implementations, and upgrades to various Messaging technologies.
• Partner and interact with technology vendors in support of the RedHat, IBM, & AWS products.
• Worked varied schedules including on-call responsibilities through a team rotation.
• Available via cellphone as an escalation point 24x7 for all Priority 1 or 2 related issues.
• Participate in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and enabling business strategy
• Automation of operational tasks. Identify and contribute to automation activities. Implement automation that will support regular operational activities -- patching, health checks, application operational tasks etc.
• Provides technical expertise in the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions including architecting and implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms, operating systems, and applications across the enterprise

The Skills You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or 3-5+ years in a technical role or equivalent
• 3-5+ Years Linux, Windows, Networking, and/or Storage expert.
• Strong with scripting in BASH, PYTHON, YAML, and JAVA.
• Hands on experience in Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon AWS Cloud products
• Strong DevOps / CI/CD process architecture/engineering
• Proficient operating in a VMware based infrastructure.
• Engineering and architecting enterprise grade solutions for hardware and Software issues.
• Familiar with middleware technologies and applications
• Hands on or working knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, and Agile methodology.
• Strong working knowledge of Prometheus and Grafana opensource monitoring solutions.
• Working knowledge of middleware messaging products like AMQ, MSK, Kafka, and IBM MQ.
• Red Hat, AWS, Azure, Google, or IBM Cloud Certification.
• Build and development technologies like Maven and Jenkins.
• Automation and management technologies like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible by Red Hat. 
• Version control technologies like Bitbucket and Git (GitHub or GitLab).
• Monitoring (APM) technologies such as AppDynamics, New Relic, or Dynatrace, and Splunk

It’s not expected that any single candidate would fulfill all of these characteristics. For instance, we have wonderful team members who are really focused on their customers’ needs and building continuously available environments, but didn’t work on banking systems before joining Ally.
